It was really UGLY. It might have been one of the worst field goal attempts ever at The Bart.

That's what I thought too. UAB had three or four called against them tonight.

ODU

1st, miss
2nd, miss

They really suck at free throws.

ODU was 12-23 from the foul line - 52.2%. Unfortunately, UAB was also 12-23. Ugh!

Kinda hard to be mad at a guy with 28 points.

Agreed! But, dang! UAB committed 19 turnovers tonight and Frazier had 5 of them. Some of the turnovers were lazy passes turned into fast breaks the other way. Jeepers!

He's playing fantastic and I'm thrilled how he handles what is being asked of him. Get pissed at Rod, Rob, and Jordan for the bad ones tonight.

How can you use that as an argument to get off his back? Why do you think they scheme against him? Because he is such a great ball handler and decision maker? He's a fantastic player with a glaring weakness. He's extremely turnover prone, just admit it.

He's turn over prone because he is at the 1. It's on HCJH and his staff at this point. He's still banking on Swing to come around. We become a better team the second Swing is benched for Watts. Watts can handle as well as any freshman I've ever seen on our team...ever.

He has now played 20 games at UAB. I understand he is out of position, and I understand that he is learning on the fly, but it feels like he isn't learning. It isn't just a turnover here and there, he is damn near leading the country in turnovers. Some of that may be coaching, maybe we need to get the ball out of his hands more.(I am a fan of this idea, let Watts or Swing do this job) If he got rid of the turnovers, he's a damn near perfect player.

A couple of other things:

FT's-what is going on? We started off this season shooting them so well. It feels like they are becoming an issue.

Purifoy-Is he back in the rotation? He has at least seen minutes the past 2 games, and then he gets 11 in this one. Is he ever going to shoot again though?

CJ-What a game from him. Everybody talks about Chad, but I'll take 19 and 8 all day from CJ. Fouls seem to be an issue for him recently though.

Swing-Maybe draw up a couple of early plays to try and get him easy buckets, and see if that gets him going? It has to be confidence at this point because he has a good shot.

Mehinti-Avoided foul trouble last night. Picked up a couple late ones to get to 3 total. I think he's the best threat we have as an offensive rebounder getting the ball back in the basket. I'd love to see what he could do in 25 minutes, because his numbers in short spurts look really good.

I'm not convinced that Swing is completely healthy. I think he has a nagging injury or two that is really limiting him. Whatever it is, I hope it gets fixed so that he can finish his senior season strong.

Yeah, I think it's safe to say that at this point. It's amazing how much Watts has improved since game 1.

We're a lot better with Watts at the point. Chad's just not a PG, and generally speaking the first option he looks for is Chad. That's fine when he's on, but when he's not it can be disastrous.

RE: Official ODU Thread
I don't have a problem with Chad and the TO's because he isn't a true PG. His intangibles outweighs the turnovers in my opinion. What I am glad to see is:

1. Chad becoming more aggressive offensively again. He is really UAB's only player that can create for himself offensively and the Blazers sorely need that from him.

2. Watts is becoming more confident. He also has the ability to drive/penetrate to the bucket. He'll become a little more consistent at doing this as the year goes along.

Now if the guards can learn to get the ball to Faz, Rucker, and Washington in the areas where they are comfortable offensively, I think UAB can become a better scoring team. As far as Swing goes, it just seems to me he doesn't know his role on the team anymore. I hope he finds his way and get it back together. The team still needs him.

that game could have also been from sleeping on a couch for 3 days. They don't make 6'6" couches.

A few of Frazier's turnovers are associated with him trying to make the spectacular pass. He made at least one perfect no-look pass last night, but also failed on at least two others. We sure needed his 27 points though.

I really like Watts' upside at this point. My only criticism of him from last night was how he allowed the ODU players to trap him with the ball late in the game. He needs to dribble away from those situations or pass the ball quicker. Of course this is easy for me to see from section 207.

BOT should reward us for being fiscally responsible by not going to bowl games.

Watts had some really great handle in some tight spots throughout the game. The traps at the end are sort of expected from a Freshman and with our lead. He has that low center of gravity like AJ did. I'm liking this kid a lot!
