It's a joke dude. You can basically fry for being in the vicinity. The Italian court system is well know for being a circus.

The rest of the world thinks ours is a circus too.

I think their police ****** up their investigation to an extent but their judicial system has showed a lot of balance and some serious commitment to due process.

Too numerous to count.

If you spend a lot of time overseas you'd know this.

examples? I think you are mistaken. Our system is envied by much of the world.

Balance and due process? The prosecutor basically gets to keep throwing things at the wall til something sticks. This most recent conviction is based on a completely new story from the original conviction.

Also, as to due process...POSTAL POLICE arrived first and had Amanda show them around the house.....they refused to even go in Meridith's room as it would disrupt her privacy despite the probable cause...

You're viewing this through the lens of our legal system; you can't do that. This isn't our legal system.

The Italiab system is working as it is designed, and they aren't just throwing it at her until it sticks; they are following their procedures. There has been no finality on their end which is needed for your argument to hold water.

You're asking for us to pass judgement on their legal process, our Courts are highly unlikely to do that because this is a pretty run of the mill and clear cut conflicts of law issue.

The Italians have done a respectable job from start to finish, certainly as good as most American jurisdictions would have done under similar circumstances.

Like waiting 47 days before processing their key evidence? (Trace DNA on a bra clasp)

Or not recording the confession?

How long do you think it can take to get DNA evidence processed on the United State?

Do you think American police have never made mistakes in important cases?

And when they do...and there is an acquittal...they can't go back and make up a new story.

I misspoke. The bra clasp was not discovered, for 47 days.

Italian courts are as much emotion as logic anyway.

Maybe Italy should pass a Hate Crimes law then they could try her twice for the same act and get a conviction after failing the first time.

Or they can make this a civil wrongful death case and have her on the hook for millions of dollars after she gets acquitted on the criminal case.
