Hell i still hate Denny Crum and he didn't screw us over half as much as Cal. I will never forget what Cal did just as i will never forget Bud Adams.

Kentucky would have to MAKE the tournament FIRST.

That said I still don't get the obsession with that school.

They hate Cal.

I know why.
I just don't get why it cannot be let go.
It's very grade school-ish
it's done. It was FIVE YEARS ago.

It sounds like Bill D'autrieve pining over his beloved Lenore.

Oh, hell, can't you carry a grudge longer than that? Someone needs to teach you to be a woman.

Us a 3 and them a 6 or us a 4 or 5 and them a 4 or 5 is really the only chance we'd have of kicking their @$$.

Tell that to them. Right now, they are "planning" on being a 3-4 seed. I can't wait to see how that holds up on the road for them. 03-lmfao

B/c different people have different personalities, and react to identical events in many different ways. Some are over it. Some never really got mad. Some still love Cal. Some hate him. Some hate the UK fan base.

They are all legitimate human reactions. I don't understand a LOT of reactions on here, but I understand there will be different ones.

The only ones I react to are ones that are backed by an assumption that can be proven wrong, or include specific personal attacks.

Well, only a few of those reactions are actually legitimate. Hating the man after 5 years is incredibly childish, and not a legitimate adult reaction.

Hating the evil things that man did here is only a natural reaction, but thanks for telling us what legitimate adult reactions are. 03-lmfao

By YOUR definition, which is why you can't really judge other's reactions, b/c yours are defined by your own personality, background, experiences, etc.

If a person reacts in a way that you deem childish, but otherwise behaves in a generally responsible way, then yes, that is a legit human reaction, just not one you will approve or understand.

If the above were true, then we'd have no laws or consequences for our own actions via society. We, as decent and reasonable embers of society, are responsible for upholding a certain code of conduct, and doling out repercussions when it's not followed. The punishment fits the crime of course: when you illegally park, we've decided that we'll have certain individuals who are tasked with acting for the greater good issue you a monetary fine.

When someone has an irrational belief and voices it to others; for example, that they "hate" a former basketball coach 5 years after he took a better opportunity, it's up to that person's peers to hold them accountable and call them a dummy. How else will they learn?

It's our inherent social obligation to keep the dummies in check, lest they take over.

Good luck with that! Half of what society does...well, way more than half...I would call dumb. 03-lmfao

As long as there is breath in my body...and I am conscious...I will hate UK as long as Calipari is the coach there.

The coffin lid will be closing...and I will reach up and stop it and say, "Go to hell, Kensucky!" COGS02-13-banana03-lmfao 04-cheers

RE: Will this be the year we get an NCAA matchup with Kensucky?
There are many reasons to hate not only Coach X, but also Kentucky, meaning the school and its fans, not necessarily the entire state. Anyone who doesn't KNOW the FACTS about what Coach X stole from this school, both tangible (like the clothes from Oak Hall) and intangible, doesn't know a rat's azz about what they are talking about.

Anyone who doesn't know the long and racist tradition at Kensucky from the time of Rupp himself, doesn't know Kensucky.

And even our own cherished hillbillies to the East can tell you all the many reasons why THEY hate Kensucky, and knowing them rather well, I trust their opinion.

Yup, I get that. I don't think it's referring to "untold stories" though. It's referring to what was happening in recruiting. It was pretty widely known that Cal tried to take each and every recruit with him. Thus, Pastner getting to swipe Orton from Kentucky would be responding tit for tat.

But that class wasn't Pastner's, nor the University's, and they weren't staying once Cal left.

They were recruited on the University's and our booster's dime, and one of them DID stay.

Who cares if it is an adult reaction. Let them have their reactions and stop trying to be everyone's parent. You think the people on this board care what you think behind a keyboard? Maybe. CAL id CAL love him or hate him it's your choice. He never denied me an autograph or ignored me when I had his attention a good guy in my opinion. He left like so many other coaches have, no different. I did not like losing him or the way he left. That's over for me. CJP is my coach and I'm loving it.

Just my opinion.

05-stirthepot

I respect your opinion, but I beg to differ that he left like any of the other coaches have ever left Memphis. Price left in disgrace, and so did Kirk, but they didn't try to nuke the program. Bartow and Finch left with their dignity, and are loved to this day.
And I would not call a person who regularly had #%^ with a female in his car on a golf course a few hundred feet from his home, wife and children a good guy, by any stretch of the imagination. Now, THAT seems rather high-schoolish to me. And THAT most certainly happened.

Over the course of 10 years Cal did more for positive the program than he did negative and that's why I simply don't care how he left. I don't get emotionally attached with coaches and players like so many of you do.

Are you emotionally attached to the Tiger bb program?
If so, then surely you care about the nuke(s) he lobbed when leaving.
If not, why do you even care?
Emotion has always been a huge part of my fandom.

Players and coaches come and go. I'm very passionate and emotional with the program itself, just not the individual parts. Again, Calipari did more good for the Memphis program than bad, and I acknowledge there was bad. 2005-2009 was one of the most enjoyable times of my life and a lot of that has to do with John Calipari. I hope Josh can't get us back there, but if he can't we'll just find another guy who will.

I never really liked the man, but I DO love my university and our bb program. So, yeah, I get kind of emotional when anyone NUKES it as they leave. They can leave. Just don't take our program with you, try to nuke it, or leave it on probation. 03-nutkick

He didn't nuke anything. He didn't try to take any part of the program except recruits, who hadn't even played a game for us. I think that Cal/UK should have to reimburse the University for it's money spent recruiting those kids, but this happens every time a coach takes a new job.

As for probation, would you rather not have had the 2008-2009 season, or are you ok with dealing with our "probation" which had zero impact on our program going forward?

He's one of our best coaches in school history, the rational adult thing to do is to let this all go and go on with your life.
