Just so you know about the American TV Deal
I am sitting in Raleigh, North Carolina watching ESPN2 where the cable box says I should be seeing UNC vs George Tech but it is showing Memphis vs UCF.

Just saying......

Was reported earlier today that ESPN couldn't make it safely to Atlanta to present the game.

Atlanta shut down about 2pm Tuesday and has not opened up again yet.

I don't think the crew made it to Atlanta. UNC had to take MARTA (subway) from the airport to their hotel

Our TV coverage is AWESOME! I love turning on ESPN and constantly seeing an American game. As a comparison, 4 MW games tonight and only 1 on TV. Boise-AF is on something called the ROOT?

Right, and I have sympathy for what's happening in Atlanta and Birmingham.

However, last year the same thing could have have happened and even if UCF/Memphis was the only other NCAA game being played at that time, it wouldn't have made ESPN. The TV world is different when you're associated with ESPN.

True. I guess I'm unfazed by the basketball part of the exposure because the former Big East was featured a good amount.

I'm more interested in football this fall though, in terms of how much more exposure UCONN and the conference will get on the ESPN networks.

I am surprised they played this game.

Aren't the Interstates still a parking lot?

You're exactly right. This much national coverage/attention is new to many of us. In previous years, if there was a national TV game in our conference, we were usually featured, but even for us.....that is dwarfed by the national coverage and Sports Center attention we're now getting.

Most abandoned cars have been moved to the sides. Today is designated car recovery day if you abandoned your car on the interstates. As of last night there were still some people out there being helped by the State Patrol and Police. Everyone is being told to please stay home this morning so they can finish treating the highways and streets. Current temp at 7:30 am is 12 degrees so needless to say still a lot of frozen ice.

Rightfully so...especially enjoy SI's Andy Staples response back to Shafer:

@Andy_Staples
Fixed. Softnosed southerners from FSU, Clemson and Georgia Tech beat Syracuse by a combined 164-17 in 2013.

Even NY Media has picked up on this story:

Syracuse football coach Scott Shafer causes uproar on Twitter after snow tweet
