I think the problem is not here but down in Georgia. From what I hear Atlanta was in pretty bad shape today.

Mercer can't get a bus company to drive them through Atlanta.

3 inches of snow shuts down Atlanta - they're not prepared to deal with it. My wife and I got stuck there a few years back with 3 inches or so on the ground.

It was an ice storm in Atlanta, You know the city Mercer would have to travel though to get here. People got stranded on the interstate and kids stuck at schools. Sorry but I don't see any reason to risk Mercer's players lives over a basketball game. Better to be safe then sorry.

I've been living up north for the past couple years and 3inches just seems like child play. I don't see how it can shut down a metropolitan city.

The 3 inches of snow wasn't the problem, the ice layer under the snow coupled with a city that has little in the way of ice removal equipment was the problem.

Parallel, Boston in 115 degree heat. I was there, no one was prepared.

Precisely.

Not saying I believe this, but a friend of mine who lived in Atlanta then moved to Philadelphia once told me that Atlanta has FOUR salt trucks and Philly has FOUR-HUNDRED.

Just hope everyone -- Bucs and foes alike -- travel safely through this mess!

RE: Mercer game moved to Friday
My experience with Atlanta was to see a couple of inches of wet, slushy snow turn the highways around the city into a demolition derby. The wife and I felt lucky to find a motel that wasn't full where we could hole up till the weather improved. Snow plows and salt trucks didn't seem to be around.

I imagine that it's a tough for a financially strapped city to invest significant dollars being prepared for uncommon events
