UAB vs ODU (a historical review)
ODU fans, I do a blog on UAB history each game day. Some of today's entry involve other UAB games on this date, but there is also a review of the 1986 game when all hell broke loose in Norfolk. Hope you enjoy

Today's fans are pansies.

Quote: Young began protesting the call at mid court as Monarch fans began showering the court with rolls of toilet paper and plastic megaphones

Candy bars, toilet paper, and megaphones within the span of a week. We were a pretty good team that year. 03-wink

It was the first ODU game I ever attended, thanks to a thoughtful co-worker whoassued me that these teams were worth watching. He was right.

Congratulations UAB. For some reason, ODU just can't shoot in your building. Frazier lit us up.

Congratulations UAB. You have a good team there. ODU could not shoot from the floor or the stripe, but I am proud that they didn't give up when down 18. Good luck on the season, and until we meet again.

Poor 2nd half by UAB with all the turnovers and missed FTs, but credit to ODU for not laying down after getting down. I'm glad we played this game at Bartow.

WOW! Looks like reid adair was telling the truth during the Jacksonville game. For 28 years I thought he was being an ass for no reason and it turns out bartow did order him to threaten us.

No matter how bad the officiating is, don't throw things on the court.

As a sports fan, my greatest nostalgia is for the 12-0 Tulane team of 1998. Second to that, are the old (1977-1991) Sun Belt Conference basketball games. An exciting league full of young, aggressive coaches/programs who had a lot to prove -- and had the chops to prove it, too.

With 4 of those classic Sun Belt programs (UAB, Charlotte, ODU, WKU), Conference USA 3.0 has a great opportunity to recreate some of that excitement and passion. I'd love to see it happen.

I loved that conference too. Too bad we can't bring back VCU.

God I can't believe I said that. I think I threw up in my mouth a little. 03-puke
