Palm's Bracket
Jerry Palm's latest bracket has Memphis a 5 seed in the West (Arizona is the 1). Cincy is a 4, Louisville a 6 and UConn is a 7. Way too early to get overly excited about these brackets, but I sure hope we can get a 4 or 3 seed.

Don't see Cincy ending up higher than us.

It appears everybody will have a tested game in round of 32 regardless of seed.

So, as of today, Palm has 5 'in' for the AAC. Half the conference schools. Anyone w/ access know how that ranks w/ the rest of the conferences -- especially the P5?

Pac 12 -- 6
Big 10 -- 6
ACC -- 6
SEC -- 5
AAC -- 5
Big East -- 4
A10 -- 4
Mountain West -- 2
All others -- 1 each

Palm having 5 SEC schools in the field is laughable.

RE: Palm's Bracket
Seems to be settling in to that range...around 5.

However, barring a bad loss, and getting a few more good wins (only losing out of SMU @SMU Louisville Gonzaga @UConn @Cincy but winning around half of these as well)...winning the AAC tourney as a cherry on top will do wonders for a late push.

Capping with a CUSA tourney run did not seem to have a big impact the last few years raising our seed- ended up 8 and 6- but this year, finishing the season with say 7 losses but then running through the AAC tourney will give us a massive boost.

Idiotic is more like it. The $EC has a grand total of 2 schools in the top 50 of the RPI. He has Arkansuck in at #77.

RE: Palm's Bracket
I said this summer we need to start actually winning some of these games against good team and this still holds true for me. We need to actually beat Cinncy, UCONN, Ville, Zags, plus SMU. The NCAA will excuse a slip up losing to a bad team on a bad night. We are 2-4 against good teams and that’s only 33%.

Numbers matter but the bonus of the “eye test” will get you a better seed. To run we need a 3 or 4 seed. Anything less will be a war from beginning to end. A 5 or 6-7 seed in a win or go home situation is a complete roll of the dice. Josh is right.

Time to start a run.

Yes you are correct - 33% and I'll correct my post.

But any number below 50% is a problem especially with the NCAA selection committee.

You know I was thinking…

We split with OK ST, won at Louisville at the YUM, lost at home to Cinncy & UCONN. What we lose at home to Louisville, and win @Cinncy & @UCONN?

One would think the rating services would see it at even but I’ll bet NONE of them do.

Just a thought.

Er- yes.

It will be a good thing if Memphis wins a handful of remaining games against good teams.
