Armed Forces - Houston vs Northwestern
Compass - Tulane vs Vanderbilt
Detroit - Syracuse vs Tulsa*
Heart of Dallas - Notre Dame* vs BYU*
Independence - Washington State* vs ULM*
Las Vegas - Utah State vs Stanford
Military - Cincinnati vs Georgia Tech

Acknowledging that the "*" indicates a team from one conference filling in for another conference, the above bowls are the only ones in the way-to-early projections outside of the Access Bowl that feature a P5 vs G5 matchup, and the AAC is in the majority of them. As much as the new bowl ties suck, I am VERY thankful that the Pirates are in the AAC going forward.

RE: 2014 Bowl Projections
1. I'm sure Vanderbilt would be thrilled to return to Lesion Field two years in a row.

2. Memphis and Middle Tennessee are scheduled to play in Memphis on September 20. Can't quite picture a rematch just 3 months later.

3. Justin Fuente has done good work at Memphis and Ark State. But getting the Tigers to 6-6 in '14 will require a good bit of luck.

4. ULL will not be playing in any of the top six bowls. The very idea is just absurd.

5. The author's predictions:
Mtn.: Air Force vs Rice, Boise State vs Toledo, Fresno State vs Navy, Nevada vs North Texas, Utah State vs Stanford. Five bowl teams, one P5 opponent.

MAC: Akron vs Marshall, Bowling Green vs Arkansas State, Northern Illinois vs UCF, Toledo vs Boise State. Four bowl teams, zero P5 opponents.

Sun Belt: Arkansas State vs Bowling Green, La./Lafayette vs Oklahoma, La./Monroe vs Washington State, South Alabama vs UTSA, Texas State vs Ohio. Five bowl teams, two P5 opponents.

C-USA: Marshall vs Akron, Middle Tennessee vs Memphis, North Texas vs Nevada, Rice vs Air Force, UTSA vs South Alabama, Western Kentucky vs East Carolina. Six bowl teams, zero P5 opponents.

AAC: Cincinnati vs Georgia Tech, East Carolina vs Western Kentucky, Houston vs Northwestern, Memphis vs Middle Tennessee, Tulane vs Vanderbilt, Tulsa vs Syracuse, UCF vs Northern Illinois. Seven bowl teams, four P5 opponents.

Assuming that USF again won't be bowl eligible, I don't see any scenario where UCF goes anywhere but the Beef Bowl if we're not in an Access Bowl. The bowl has drawn well every time UCF played there and we helped the bowl record its' only sellout to date.

Even if USF is eligible, the bowl might still pick UCF.

Disagree on 2 parts. One, I think USF will get to 6-6, so I think they will be eligible, and 2 it's a virtual lock for USF to go to Beef's bowl, if eligible. It's been several years since they went to Beef's bowl. This is my opinion, I could be wrong...

Part I -03-puke
Part II - 03-puke
Shots at the P5 are always good, but the American needs one (out ofseveral potential ones) to pull that Access Bowl and win it to continue what UCF started this year with it's win over Baylor.

My bet is ULL loses at Ole Miss and Boise in their 2nd/3rd games of the season and that knocks them out of contention.

lol I could pick names out of a hat and get similar results. Its way too early to predict bowl games.

USF can bounce back and become bowl eligible. Its really hard to say without knowing what their schedule looks like. For all we know the conference could give them the easiest schedule possible.

ULL lost to USA & ULM in conference along with Kansas State & Arkansas out of conference. Next year they go to Boise and Ol' Miss. Are they expected to run the table? I'm confused.

They also barely beat an improved but very young Tulane team that went 7-5 in CUSA and had major QB issues including one of the worst pick 6's and 2 minute drills I have ever witnessed.

That website is an absolute joke but experts at trolling readers.

The Cajuns lost to ULM when the starting quarterback went out with a broken throwing arm. The following week at USA was a total disaster as Hud tried several qbs and only one had any success at all, late in the game.

After surgery, the starter, Broadway, played against Tulane about a month later in the New Orleans Bowl. BTW, that true freshman quarterback who showed promise in the USA game, stepped in late in the game, drove the Cajuns from deep in their own territory to midfield (including a 3rd and long), and chewed up clock that Tulane needed to win the game. Which, they didn't.

Most of the top players return for 2014.

It would take a small miracle for the Cajuns to go undeafeated, but a single loss to either Ole Miss or Boise might not be that bad if the other G-5's beat up their best teams.

Could it happen that way? It could, but I doubt it. Glad it's even being discussed though.

You could probably get better results that way. BOB is ACC next year. AF is Army (Big 12 primary/CUSA secondary backup), I bowl has CUSA and AAC as secondary ties...though I did hear that they may opt for one of the LA schools. The biggest 01-wingedeagle is predicting CUSA NOT to fill their best bowl (HOD) and/or B1G to pass on HOD and Detroit for a backup to AF bowl. Doubtful the ACC skips Shreveport for Detroit...not to mention MAC has a backup tie to that bowl. Yep, picking out of a hat or throwing darts might prove to be a better method.

Next season is going to be reeeeeeeeeally interesting for USF. Lots of the 'transition' excuses will be gone. CWT will have brought in half the team. His system should be pretty well known. We're either going to crater again, or make a significant improvement to a 6-6 bowl appearance. If we crater again, I don't see there being a lot of patience by the remaining USF faithful. Will pretty much indicate his system/staff/approach is just not going to work out for us...
