I can't think of a single former FCS team that was more impressive entering FBS play than the Runners this past year in C-USA. Good luck in 2014. Love the name, love the crowds you guys draw, and love the style of football you play..............winners.04-cheers

You should be stoked, look at how your team finished the 2013 season. And, road wins at New Mexico, UTEP, Tulsa, NORTH TEXAS and knocked off Tulane when they most needed a win.

Speaking of 2014, are you guys losing many players to graduation? If not, I see a championship game in your future and a solid bowl slot regardless of the outcome.

04-cheers

I just can't figure out how ULL gets a At Large to the Cotton over someone from the AAC or MWC. As a pre-season nod anyway.

It would be an enormous long shot, no doubt, but if the stars align, who knows?

What it would take to happen would be the following.

Cajuns would need to at least a split on the Ole Miss/Boise State road trip (a sweep would, of course, be better) and then they'd need to run the table in the Belt. They'd end the season possibly ranked at that point.

The AAC and MWC teams would need to hang an L or two on their best teams at the same time.

As the writer commented, the Cajuns return with a loaded roster and a home/away schedule that's in their favor. And despite the protestations of many, the Belt is gaining in perception as a football conference.....it did, afterall, finish first among the non-AQ's in 2013 as judged by the NCAA. Running the table on the Belt would likely be viewed as a significiant accomplishment in 2014 for any team.

Do I think it will all happen? No, I don't. But the very fact that the Cajun program is being discussed in these terms by 'outsiders', to me, is an indication of how much progress the program has made. Hats off to Hud and the crew.
