Joe Jackson [Houston Game]
Last night might have been his best game of the season. I really like it when he attacks the rim like he did last night. Even though it doesn't always work (end of Florida game) I think it puts the opponent on their heels and can open up the entire court.

RE: Joe Jackson
He had some #badJoe turnovers last night, but that's nitpicky. When he plays like that, he's the friggin' maestro. He is the engine that makes the offense work. His mid-range game is deadly. His 3 pt% is up to 23% on the year, even after the previous 5 games in which he shot 6%.
He got to the rack at will last night and finished like he was 6'4" and 225.

RE: Joe Jackson
When Joe does what he did last night, he's one of the best. 18 points to go along with 7 assists. He played within himself and when he does that we generally win and win big.

7 assists and only 2 turnovers according to the box score. I'll take that from him every night.

We could have beat Florida and now they are #6. Wow.

Joe looked frustrated trying direct during the 1st half. Lots of pointing and yelling to the other guys to set screens and get in position on offense.

If the guards would stop forcing iffy passes to the bigs it would cut down our TO's quite a bit. While I am all in favor of them getting the ball to the bigs, sometimes they seem bound and determined too whether it is open or not. Of course I know that in some cases it can be blamed on the big's positioning, but mostly it looks to me like the guards force passes where it is not open enough.
That's one thing I see out of Dom that I really like . . . when the ball gets to about the top of the key, he puts his butt on the defender and starts making an open spot for a pass. Granted, with our often guard-centric style, he doesn't get the ball most times, but at least he tries. I hope he doesn't get tired of to no avail and thus start playing Bluff City ball like the others.
Somebody has been coaching them about it, because last night they were definitely looking to get the ball to the bigs. In other games, they've done it briefly, but then given up too quickly. Maybe it is a case of "take what the defense gives you".

Agreed...I think a lot of times it comes down to making the spectacular play instead of the cautions play...Some of the passes they make for dunks to the bigs are extremely difficult and into small windows but they are risky and are the cause of many TOs. We are a high risk gambling style of team...Maybe that is Pastners style.

Joe only had 2 turnovers ya'll. All in the first half and the last one at the end, he just fumbled the ball before he did anything

Joe had a few layups last night that were pretty impressive, he was able to drive hard into traffic and hit just the right angle to put it in. Also love his mid-range game. I am comfortable with him taking that 15 footer from the baseline or the elbow every single time.

Joe on the court has been solid for 4yrs.
Only had a few bumps in the road dealing with "living up to the hype"
Other than that, he's been great. Will be missed sorely next year

Now and then joe looks like the 8th grader playing with 6th graders. He looked like that in the second half against Houston.

It was good to see him pull up and shoot the floater several times. Of course, it helps that every one he shot dropped with barely a ripple of the net.

I agree with this. I saw the two layups you are talking about. By no means were they easy to make because of the speed he was going and he only had so much space and time to shoot it just right. He is fun to watch.

RE: Joe Jackson [Houston Game]
I too liked JJ's decisions overall, esp. mixing it up off screens / using midrange / attack and dish assists / and a couple long range shots.
One small, but important thing I noticed was that Joe's stroke was more fluid than usual, which is great...it helps him to get the ball off quicker. It looked like more of a shooters stroke than 'aiming' like he usually does. I hope this is a development in his game and not just a one time difference.

If he would use the mid range and floater as his go to game and take the rim off fakes I think he would explode on the scene. He seems to want the rim first and then establish the mid range game. I would love to see this. He is doing really well and I am not trying to nitpick but I still feel like we haven't seen close to the best he could be.

Joe played his usual game last night. First half passing more and working with in the offense. Then after the half he starts to look at getting his points.
Biggest problem last night with our guard play was they kept looking to celebrate after each basket and Houston gets a run out basket.

Joe follows up the 18 point 7 assist performance with a 14 point 7 assist performance.
Keep it up, Joe.
