I think that's at least a partial indication they have given up on Braun.
agree on the give up-can't imagine they haven't figgered out he is (or should be) a lame duck. My first memory of Rice Bskb was 69-70 and probably seen 300+ games at Autry and I have never seen worse attendance than this year.
I think the "big time recruit for KY" is definitely shaky at this point.

This team is deeper and has more overall talent than last year's squad, but they don't have a scorer like Tamir Jackson to mask the weaknesses anymore (to whatever extent they were masked). I think we'll have a game where our three point shot will be falling and, since we shoot like 30 a game, we could steal a game like that. Obi looks incredibly promising, and I would hate to see him leave. Annoying that that's even a fear for me. But there are just a lot of holes and this is unacceptably bad

Expecting him to stay is the triumph of hope over experience. Tamir and Frizelle and Lucas (and likely Seth) stayed four years. The clear majority of Braun's first 4 classes did not.
Knowing that, we don't need to know the won-loss record. we already know it.

That's pretty fair but it's also important to note Tamir's leadership qualities. Our only two seniors are two year guys (Austin a JUCO transfer and Bahrom a walk-on who is now on scholarsip for his senior year). I just don't think they can provide the leadership that a four-year starter like Tamir was able to do.
I mentioned it over the summer and I still believe it - I think Braun's biggest failure this offseason was not convincing Tamir to stay on and become an assistant coach. I think Jackson would have been able to get this team to play harder and with more enthusiasm if he was on the assistant coaching staff but I do recognize his desire to pursue a professional career first.
Hopefully this team will dig down and find a new gear. I still think they have the talent to surprise some people but without the effort, they will find it hard to win (m)any more games. I was encouraged by the effort of both Obi and Marcus Jackson last night, who I thought both stepped up their games in the second half. Once Washington gets back, I'd start Jackson over Ramljak and see if Austin might be more effective off the bench than as a starter.

Tamir Jackson=Jason Skaer
Both willed bad teams to be better. That's leadership.

Agree, but that team had some solid players. Mike Wilks, Erik Cooper, Robert Johnson, Alex Bougaieff and Derek Michaelis were all players. Mike played a bit in the NBA and I always thought it was a shame when Derek left the team prior to the next year to play baseball. These guys all overcame the mess of Bobby Crawford and Jarvis Kelly Sanni.
Its starting to look more and more like 98-99 to 04-05 may have been our peak basketball years, maybe even include 05-06 and 06-07.

I wonder if Ricky Pierce would like to get into couching. We could use him so bad.

I don't know whether it's more embarrassing that Rice is in the bottom 10% of all programs or whether Tulane and UTSA are +.500 in aggregate.
