Nice KSU jackets or blue jeans and the same KSU t-shirt, etc. Then last but not least the wrestling team. They were all dressed differently and looked like homeless people trying to get out of the cold. It was classic. They didn't even have to introduce them it was obvious.

I would like to give them the benefit of the doubt and defend them by saying they must have just come out of practice, but I know they would have showed up that way no matter what. I fondly recall parties of all types being held at the wrestling house. The only constant would be at least one fight and the cops showing up. I vividly recall jumping from a second floor bedroom window, in a toga, into the snow (yes, during the season) to evade Kent's finest.

I must have been more upset than I thought at the BB game. I removed the content as it was misplaced.

Thanks Burden, you really could not see how upset I was. I even got lost on the way home.

No need to apologize! I was a season ticket holder for basketball for over 12 years but didn't renew last year due to family commitments. Plus, I strongly suspected we were in for a bumpy ride.

RE: Wrestling
This might be old news but I was talking to a big time high school wrestling fan and he says the we gave a full scholarship to a 125 wrestler from Lake Catholic (Tutulo or something like that) who is ranked number 8 in the country. Anybody know anything that might confirm it? If he really got a full scholarship, they probably would be counting on him to help immediately.

It's kinda old news. He's currently ranked 12th.

I have no idea what type of scholarship they gave him but they need someone at 125 pretty bad.

RE: Wrestling
Burden,

Here is a link to d1collegewrestling.net, showing KSU's current wrestling commitments:
http://d1collegewrestling.net/Recruiting_KSU.html

As you will see, KSU Wrestling has 2 commitments currently, 1 of which is the 125lber you mention above. With TJ Keklak being the only senior on the roster currently, I am not sure what the # of commitments KSU will have in this years class (with wrestling being different with full scholarship vs partial scholarship vs walkon).

Here is the link to the top 100 High School Senior Wrestlers, showing what weight class, if they are committed or not: http://d1collegewrestling.net/Top100_2014.html

KSU doesn't have a top 100 wrestler committed as of now, but there are quite a few uncommitted. 1 of interest is the HWT kid from Cincinnati Moeller as he is a KSU football recruit, so maybe he could do 1 or the other or both @ KSU?

We already received a verbal at 285. He's a PA state champ and an all-state offensive lineman.

http://www.intermatwrestle.com/

"Kent State received a verbal commitment from PIAA state champion Sam Breese (Lakeview, Pa.). Breese finished his junior season with a 37-4 record en route to winning the gold medal at heavyweight in AA."

Lambert58,

That is great news about the HWT verbal, as KSU is badly in need of help @ that weight class.

RE: Wrestling
Relative to 285, keep in mind that Lytle is an Ohio state champ and multiple placer. Also, this is his first season in the line-up and he's not doing "that" bad. 125 and 165 are performing worse and 197 is slightly better. He may or may not develop and that's why we added a 285 the past 2 years. I'm assuming that the most recent 285 never became eligible. Given the success of the program, we are seeing the team adding depth at a weight class that has never had it before. So, the newest 285 recruit will help no matter who ends up starting.

As for PA, there's a reason why we have 2 assistant coaches that are Pennsylvanians and half of the starters are from there. PA produces more AA wrestlers than any other state because its high school style is more comparable to the NCAA version than other states, including Ohio. PA kids really know how to mat wrestle. Ohio produces more than its share of super stars like Kilgore, but the average PA wrestler is better than his Ohio counterpart. When Andrassy became the head coach, I playfully reminded him of this fact on more than one occasion. Although he never would admit it, Moore and Hill agreed. lol

Exactly! And that's with Iowa being a huge wrestling state.

RE: Wrestling
I see Miller is not wrestling this weekend. Anybody know if he has a chance to wrestle in the MAC championships? After NIU we have three awful tough teams in front of us. Northern Iowa, Edinboro and Missouri. We need Miller to have any chance against the last two. He already is out of the N. Iowa match.

He is being held out of action until the MAC tournament.
