Football Championship Game
Hopefully we will get a 12th member for football soon and finally get to stage that long sought after championship game. My question is what is the best way for the conference to stage the game.

A. On a SBC campus with:
1. team with the most wins to host
2. host team alternates between East & West each season
3. teams submit a bid to host and the team with the best package gets it

or

B. Game is played at a neutral site off campus like say the Crampton Bowl in Montgomery AL or the Liberty Bowl in Memphis TN.

For me I was leaning toward A1 and then I realized that possibly could mean traveling as far away as Idaho to watch us play for a title and I switched to B.

Benson's original plan was for the team with the best record to host. Of course, I imagine the league guidelines will allow him to change that on a whim.

Despite the snickering that is sure to ensue, if we were in that spot next year, the game would have to be moved/postponed. Just sayin'.

I think a neutral site could work - but it would have to be Montgomery of Birmingham. Anything else would be unworkable (especially a site in a state that is not in out footprint, like Tennessee).

RE: Football Championship Game
I think neutral site games work for the SEC and Big Ten but look at the Pac 12 and ACC. If they can't even fill the stadiums for their championship games then it doesn't make sense to have it at a neutral site for a Sun Belt championship. A1 is the best option at the time, and you could always see how it goes for a couple years and reevaluate.

Panthersville is correct, if GA St was to host it could be tricky with them playing at a rented stadium used by multiple football teams on championship week.

A1. 1. team with the most wins to host (FCS wins do not count)
2. Tiebreaker is BCS overall rank

RE: Football Championship Game
Generally speaking, league title games that are not firmly established struggle to draw fans because its hard for fans to plan a road trip on short notice. Its also hard to sell tickets to your home fans in one week that are separate from your regular ticket package.

In 2012, when we ended up with an ASU/MTSU winner take all match by luck the same weekend of all the league title games, our game came within a hundred or so people of outdrawing the PAC 12 Title game.

RE: Football Championship Game
IMO a championship game is neither desirable for the strength of the conference, nor financially rewarding and is is a waste of money simply to say us too.

Neutral sites are a disaster for non AQ

Why do you think it would be workable? That's like a 12 hour drive for Texas State, 7 for Arkansas State, 9.5 for App State. Not saying any of us would be in it every year, but odds are good with the short turnaround time... it'd be poorly attended for those type teams.

I think it'd be better to host it at one of the team's stadium. That way you will be almost guaranteed solid attendance. With a place like Birmingham, if you have say App State vs. Texas State, I think attendance would be really bad.

Georgia Dome is not a neutral site.
