What was there really to gain by doing that back then? Did Kim Jong-Il pay them big money to come? It's not like they could sell their show there.

He probably did pay a lot. NK was trying to make itself part of the world again also.

I didn't understand this event in 1995 and I still don't. It was more of a NJPW event than a WCW, but it's not like NJPW was on either of their two channels, either.

Wish they would've detained Chris Benoit over there, though.

On the forum index page, the thread read "Nature Boy" Ric Flair De...", and I thought this was a celebrity death thread. I'm relieved that it's not. He'll most likely outlive them all because he didn't roid up too much.

But hell, with the wild life he's lived, he's probably done just as much damage to his body.

That was my exact thought too.

But like Latty said, that guy has lived harder and spent more than most of the others. I've lost count of how many ex wives he's paying alimony to.

Friend of mine told me the nature boy was in Austin, TX and somehow my friend's group ended up in Flair's entourage bar-hopping. Said Flair would walk into a bar and would give his trademark "whoo" and if nobody yelled the same thing back, would walk out and go to the next bar.

But what if the bar he left was full of star-struck people?

Rasslin fans + alcohol = anything but star-struck. They're a different breed.

Besides, it's common knowledge that when someone gives out a "whoooo", the proper response is to give one right back.

I'm not a Flair fan. My shows were late 80s channel 5 and free TV WWF. I didn't watch NWA.

But I am listening to flair on Steve Austin's podcast. Very interesting stuff.

Same here. Wasn't there a WWF Saturday morning show in the late 80's? Seems I remember watching that, then flipping over to channel 5.

Every now and then, I'd catch the Saturday night show on TBS at 5:05, but I grew up on the WWF and Memphis.

30 aired a Saturday Superstars show over the years. But of course, it was a jobber fest.

Pretty much explains how a guy like Steve Lombardi has managed to stay employed for 30 years.
