Mackin has expectations of the coach bringing that model to UAB.

11.7.2 Football Bowl Subdivision - There shall be a limit of one head coach, nine assistant coaches and two graduate assistant coaches who may be employed by an institution in bowl subdivision football.

11.7.3 Championship Subdivision Football - There shall be a limit of 11 coaches of any type who may be employed by an institution in championship subdivision football.

If he had any on the field GAs they counted as part of the 11 on the field coaches.

Great find! That pretty well clears things up.

Have there been any updates on whether Any of the current coaches were retained?

Yes. I believe Richard Owens was retained.

Not sure about any of the others.

Coaches do things on the field, an operations director doesn't coach, so not included. Schools have created positions that take other tasks from the coaches to allow them to focus more on coaching and recruiting.
