Give The RoadRunners Credit....They're Doing It Right
Saw this post by Dogbert on the Tech board. UTSA folks are using some good PR. Gotta wonder what other positive things they're doing to sell RoadRunner football.

UTSA attendance
My wife bought our tickets for the a Tech/UTSA game thru UTSA. The person she bought the tickets from apparently wrote her information down. Two days ago he called her and asked how our experience was and how was the Alamodome. She told him other than Tech losing it was a great experience. He told her he understands we are Tech fans but we are welcome to come back to other games.

Impressive. THIS is how to put butts in the seats.

He did not have to call back an opposing team's fans. Especially since they are already averaging 35k. Maybe this is why they are. I hope the Tech ticket office is doing something like this

They need to get that guy working the phones for basketball.

With that said, it's great customer service. Unfortunately, with most schools struggling just to make budget it's dollars not many will invest.

The guy should be applauded for his "smarts". Good job.

There is a woeful lack of good customer service skills in athletics.

There is a woeful lack of good customer service in the world. It's nearly impossible to get someone with half a brain more less courteous.

We could sure as hell use a little CS like that.

good customer service takes training and time. that costs money and todays corporate culture is focused on cutting costs to increase profits and share price today not on long term growth and stability

Too many schools are stuck in the same ole same ole way to doing things to sell tickets. Too many AD's expect tickets to sell themselves and it just doesn't happen. Look at example minor league baseball teams, they can get very innovative in the ways they market their tickets.

Since almost ever ticket transaction is recorded these days (credit card/mailing addresses/ticketmaster accounts, etc...), most team reps call practically ANYONE who bought a ticket to their game...and most have no clue that an opposing team fan bought said tix...as most teams have fans in almost every city in the state...let alone if they are playing another team from in-state.

I know for odu, its stressed time and time again that visiting teams are key to profit. The reason is from ncaa officials downn to the 4yr old its what builds our rep. That in turn leads to better chances for tourneys. Odu hosted a large amount of tourneys because of our rep. The caa loved our facilities not so much the stadium. But we are managed by global spectrum which also managed usf and ucf sports facilites. Plus we have a hotel with in 20yrds of the ted for basketball. Lots of teams stay there or downtown norfolk.

So utsa did a great job and I do wish odu box office would follow.
