Make no mistake----the revenue generating "sports" programs in college athletic are 99% focused on the revenue part and maybe 1% focused on the sports part (and 0% concern by fair competition or good sportsmanship or a level playing field).

Each power conferences is potentially going to typically get between 3 and 6 teams into the NCAA Tournament each year. With the current return rate being about $1-1.5M per game played in the tourney, if you are an AD in a power conference you are NOT going to jeopardize your chances of getting into the Tourney by going on the road to play in a small hostile mid-major venue with a target on your back-----besides with your average home attendance that probably draws 2-4 times as many fans as your typical mid-major you can easily afford to pay another creampuff to come to your house and take a beating for a nice payday to help build up your record before getting into conference play-----in fact it may even be more profitably up front to do that than to give up a potential home game in order to play at some mid-major's house.

College basketball is a big business and AD have to be "good businessmen" to survive, and "good" businessmen do NOT take unnecessary financial risks such as scheduling road games against mid-majors. From the power conference POV, scheduling at a mid-major carries large potential risks but offers only insignificant rewards, so it is a bad business practice that is to be avoided.

Good points. When I said it wasn't about money, I was thinking that it wouldn't cost the big schools any more to play Toledo than to play one of the other big boys. I do see how it could be an issue though. But I still think they are just too scared to get beat by the little guys. 03-lmfao

I'm sure that is also very much on their minds----I am sure tOSU hasn't forgotten their last trip to Savage and I don't ever expect to see them here again. Actually you can make an even better case for being scared with WBB because there is a lot, lot less money on the table in WBB than for MBB, yet it is very, very difficult to get power conference teams to come to Savage---so in that case it is probably the coaches who don't want to face a mid-major particularly in a hostile environment like a packed Savage and the embarrassment of a potential loss.

per coach TK 2 for 1's have been offered to UM, OSU, MSU, Xavier and Cincinnati. All declined.

Michigan played a true road game at Bradley last year. Reach out to them and see what the parameters of their agreement with Michigan were.

The son of Michigan coach John Beilein was on the Bradley coaching staff that year, so that is how they got UM to play there. Unless there are strong connections like that, the big teams aren't coming to Savage.

Thanks for the info! That makes sense.
