We lose to unranked UConn and drop 6 spots. Louisville beats UConn and moves up 5 spots. Weirdness.

Fair ranking. We should move up after this week. Winning 2 and sitting at 15-4.

It's Louisville and they destroyed Houston and beat UConn by 12 lol. Must be nice to be in THE club.

We lost to UConn at home, Louisville beat UConn on the road. That matters.

Well, they also beat Houston by 40, and their win over UConn was convincing.

The loss is doubly sad because we would be somewhere around #12 if we beat UConn. That was a full 10-12 spot swing.

Yeah, agree. They were 24 and we were 17, and they won 2 easy road games. But my issue is, have you watched them play? They are not good.

If they get hot, they can hang for awhile, but I've watched them 3-4 times, at least. Not impressive. Portland rolled over them 2 weeks ago.

Drew Barham is a nice guy and was a great Tiger walkon, but any team that starts him, or uses him as the 6th man, as the Zags do back and forth, is not a team that should be ranked right now.

I suppose the bigger issue with me is that most of these voters don't actually watch many games, and once they position a team, as you noted, they simply move it up/down, w/ a win or loss, regardless of whom they play, or how they actually perform.

Same impression I got. They can possibly cause some problems for some big, slow B1G team (or the likes of Kentucky) in the tourney if they catch fire from long range. However, they're not big enough or fast enough to threaten too many other teams. I think we match up really well with them.

Yeah, I've just become resigned to how I expect the voters to vote. What I think is accurate is usually significantly different.

This is great.

MEMPHIS could very well end up the season having played at LEAST 8 ranked teams...several in top 10. If UConn gets ranked before 2/15, that will be 9 ranked teams out of 31 games.

I can't be sure but I THINK that would constitute the hardest (ranked opponent wise) regular season schedule ever played by a MEMPHIS team. Then throw in games against LSU, Houston, SMU. Not bad.

The TIGERS will be playing UC, UL, UConn, and Gonzaga later, so that is 4 mor eopportunities to move further up (or down) the polls. The reall good news is the RPI increase regardless.

Will not happen if we keep using the 3/4 guard sets.... The lack of size does not cause opposing team to alter shots.

They are very good-watch them a lot because they are my son-in laws team. True 11 deep, well coached and maybe not super athletes but their floor spacing is great.

Great post, boss man. We are definitely playing a whole new 'league' of competitors now that we are playing in a Big Six conference. This may not be the Big East, anymore, yet, it literally still IS the BE conference in stature, television exposure and overall competitive strength of every team in the AAC.

These next few games give us an opportunity to iron out some wrinkles that had mounted in this early season. Itll feel like cusa for a few weeks. JP's teams usually got better as the cusa season progressed. Therefore I expect to win all of these up to SMU & then it gets tough again right before conf tourney time, which is something we'll need to test out new found improvement, which is something we haven't had in a long time.

Well, our loss was on our home floor so it (the loss) hurts us just a bit more than their win on the road helps them. Plus, they are Louisville and the lazy voters just think, "oh yeah, they're really good"!

Shocked we're still ranked but happy about it. The team is still garnering respect.

I agree. With both points actually, but I thought we might be 24 or 25, barely. Either way it's good.
