Golden Eagles and the Green Wave (1/23 & 1/25 at The Ted)
Going with the party feeling and hoping to repeat our success with the two-in-one thread. First up is Southern Miss. They are 15-3 overall with a 2-1 CUSA record. They have two wins over DII/NAIA opponents.

D1 wins:
Vs. Jackson State (5-12)
@ DePaul (10-9)
@ NDSU (14-5)
@ USA (7-12)
Vs. Houston Baptist (4-14)
Vs. Morehead State (13-7)
Vs. Georgia State (12-6)
Vs. Coppin State (6-11)
Vs. Arkansas-Little Rock (9-9)
@ Rhode Island (10-9)
Vs. Drexel (10-7)
@ UNT (10-8)
Vs. Rice (5-12)

We're building the swagger, time to bring the PAIN. USM is next!

A win would probably kill USM's at-large hopes, whatever they may be at this point (not much, when DePaul and North Dakota State are your big non-con wins). The chances are virtually nil that CUSA gets two bids, but if they do, it'll be either Southern Miss or La. Tech getting the second bid.

PLEASE GET EVERYONE YOU KNOW TO THE TED THURSDAY.

This game will not be easy. So miss has history of being tough. Like I would tell anyone before conf games don't show to much. Just like our team. Please come out and support. Get the ted back to sold out and rocking. Make it so loud in there the other has to use hand signals to call plays.

Our team deserves our effort. The ted box office is open today. We also have wrestling. Get your tickets.

La Tech at Southern Miss today at 1pm on FS1. Might as well watch this prior to the AFC Championship game to get an idea of how far the basketball program needs to go over the next couple of years. La Tech is a top 10 defensive team in the nation and USM is extremely balanced.

Because those redundant, long-winded, and disputatious comments will be drowned out by a wave of positivity that can logically be viewed as more than blind optimism, or as some around here say, "accepting mediocrity".

I almost never go the route of telling fans how they should feel because it's something I don't believe in, but I'm going to break my rule this morning: I am proud of this team right now, and you should be too.

Don't worry, it's just taking a little longer for them to think of something to complain about.

That's Florida Gulf Coast's Eagle. Here is USM's:

Good enjoy the peace and quiet - one poster in particular that is wrong 80% of the time just can't handle the truth. Unfortunately he'll be back with the next loss so enjoy it for now

Southern Miss is playing a zone, but it looks like they like to press as well. We're definitely going to have to take care of the ball.. Looks like they like to get in the paint as well. So far anyway.

USM is experienced but doesn't have a lot of size. ODU should be able to match-up.

USM shooting 68% from the Free Throw line and a very respectable 35% from 3pt (an area that has been a bit of a weakness for ODU).

Hopefully, Bacote is back and 100% his offense will be needed.

They've been a little careless with the ball as well.

We'll need Batten to settle down and let the game come to him as well. I think every possession is going to count in this game if we want to win it, and the bad shots/butterfingers plays won't cut it.

A raucous crowd would be awesome too.

Looks like La. Tech is having trouble stopping dribble penetration. Bodes well for us in a few weeks.

Hopefully all that Havoc business has prepared us for pressing teams in advance.
