RE: Our crowd sucked tonight
Pastner needs to stop telling me to come to games and spend more time learning how to coach. I'll be there. Always have, as have most. He needs to bring in a guy who knows how to coach defense. We can't stop the dribble penetration to save our lives. Things break down all over the place as a result. I'll give him credit for going to the zone, but that was a symptom of a larger problem. First back to back home losses in double figures since 1979 season. Let that sink in. That spans a lot of variables.

RE: Our crowd sucked tonight
The crowd was not our problem, starting out the place had a few holes but it filled out by halfway through the first. There was a few way up high that never got filled, but overall there is nothing to complain about.

And there were several times that everyone was on their feet, it may not have seen that way on TV but there were several times when the crowd was together. Probably the best crowd since louisville last year, but that is going to be tough to beat.

I was there as usual in 110.

The crowd did show late but they were on their feet quite a few times for an extended period exhorting for TIGER DEFENSE.

Give the Huskies some credit. They knew this basically was a MUST WIN just as the TIGERS faced last Thursday at the YUM Center. UConn flat out won with superior shooting and domnating the rebounds.

MEMPHIS has the game up there on 2/15.

The TIGERS have things to work on, no doubt.

I thought the crowd was pretty good last night
much louder than normal
and it was pretty packed.

I too got there a little late but a lot of us have these little inconveniences called jobs... and 240westbound was going 30mph

y'all should be complaining about the way the team played.
I was there and loud. I did my part. They obviously didn't.

I wonder how many people complaining about the crowd were sitting at home watching the game on TV... It's kind of like voting, you can't complain about who wins if you don't vote... so you can't complain about the crowd unless you are at the game. (unless you are an out of town fan, obviously)

You people complaining about the crowd are insane. It was a friggin' 6pm start. Do you know how difficult it was to get downtown in the middle of rush hour? I'm never late to the game and I walked in to the arena at 6:15. The crowd was loud, but when you don't make stops or rebound it's hard to get any momentum.

Serenity now!!

Sorry I couldn't make the commute from Dallas. And yes I started this thread based on the way the crowd sounded on tv, I never complained about the numbers because the crowed looked great, but it just sounded dead in there other than around the 7 minute mark in the second half for just a few minutes and then it died.

Exactly. People work. It was a 6 PM tip-off on a weekday and the crowd filled out closer to the half. Surprised the brain trust around here didn't realize that.

RE: Our crowd sucked tonight
UConn did a good job of making big shots- a few in the course of the game were too wide open, but the ones they made late in the game were tough shots- credit them- for silencing the crowd.

It happens.

Would have preferred people not make a mass exodus like they did- and would prefer the douche in our section who was cussing out Joe Jackson because- get this- Memphis lost to a competing really good team- but I thought the crowd was just fine.

I agree with Willie 100%. Was probably the best crowd of the year thus far. UConn made repeated timely shots to quiet the crowd, mostly due to our poor defense... and they just outhustled us. That is one thing I miss about Cal's teams, if you didn't defend he'd sit your ass.

No coaches accept not hustling.

Please.

Memphis basketball was around well before the 2005-2006 season. In fact, it was even around in the 2004-2005 season and got dumped by a lot of mediocre teams.

and I will again respond by saying that the crowd was indeed quite loud a lot of the game. I was THERE. Perhaps the microphones weren't turned the right way for television or whatever. I'd send your complaint to ESPN because the crowd was not to blame.

And at times the crowd was as loud as it has ever been IMHO. So on TV if the crowd noise was not as loud as you thought it should be it was because ESPN had it turned down.

The crowd was late due to the weekday 6 PM tip off time. Spin that whatever way you want, but Memphis has always had late comers for a weekday game starting that early. But the announced attendance was 18,039. I'm of the opinion that the attendance should be announced just after halftime or even at halftime as opposed to near the end of the game.

Yes- it was ridiculously loud at times- the loudest when Memphis made the back to back threes to go from 7 down to 1 up in the second and then when they forced the turnover when down 4 with 45 seconds left.

All of this. The crowd was great. The fact that ESPN's mikes weren't adjusted to suit the people on their couch's fancies doesn't diminish that fact.

My section (109) was super loud, and up on their feet for a lot of the game. The student section was full and involved in things, but everytime it would get to fever pitch, UConn would sink a shot, and it would take the air out. That's what happens.

If you weren't there (and live in town), don't complain about the rest of us who left work as soon as possible to get kids, get babysitters arranged, then get downtown as fast as you can to get there for a 6 pm tip, then spent most of the night on our feet and/or screaming at them to play some D.

If JJ makes the layup to bring us within 2 with just under 1 min left.. the roof would have come off that place.

Indeed.

Gotta give UConn credit on the defense on that one- Joe got the lane and the defender came at him hard, and then stopped. Joe anticipated hard contact that never arrived and he missed the shot.

Yes- bedlam if he makes that or if the hard contact had come. Bummer.
