Height in the paint?!?
Saw this one on eaglepost:

https://twitter.com/munzly/status/423584065636163584

Edson Avila (6-9 forward) officially enrolled in classes at Southern Miss, and was at practice today. He'll be eligible to play next season.

a 6'9" forward? DT's not gonna know what to do with a bigger man :)

RE: Height in the paint?!?
Yeah, we've had a couple of guys over the years whose chief basketball skill was being tall.

We got a 7'1"r that's really tall and smart as all get out. But I might be able to beat him in a game of 1v1.

He'll shrink to 6 ft. 5 before he hits the court...

RE: Height in the paint?!?
The difficulty with height is whether or not they can run with an uptempo team for 26-30 minutes a night. If they can, then danger danger!

South Florida had a 7'3" 315 lb guy when we played them last night. He couldn't run or jump, but he could set a screen

Enemas U. is doing pretty well with their 7'5" center. I thought he'd be a disaster because he might be slow but it wasn't the case, they beat us twice. Maybe it's just the coaching as Menzies is a heck of a coach especially in a God forsaken place like Las Cruces. He's been there a long time and I wonder when some other school comes-a-calling.

That Center has a "little" brother on the team too.

Sim Bhullar at 7'5" 360 SO
Tanveer Bhullar 7'3" 335 FR

They are obviously slow... but damn they are huge.

RE: Height in the paint?!?
The majority of time if a player is 6-10 or over at this level he usually sucks and rarely sees the court, and usually even sucks progressively worse each inch taller he is. About the only 7 footer worth a crap in CUSA the last decade I can remember off the top of my head is Jerome Jordan.

The 7-5 brother is actually very productive with a 24.0 Player Efficiency Rating his his first 2 years. His per 40 minutes averages is 14ppg, 12rpg, 5bpg on 66% shooting. Some NBA team will probably take a chance on him in the 2nd round.

That's because Sim does what I wished UTEPs centers did, dunk the ball. They (Miners) can't make a bank shot to save their lives, especially Lang.

Looks like he has shrunk since high school. He was listed as a 6'10" center by Rivals in 2011.

I think he might be able to take you as long as you promise not to back him up in the paint.

Hassan Whitside was only here one year but was absolutely dominant defensively. Lead the nation in triple doubles that year I believe (pts, rebs, blks). Not great offensively but did have a decent jumper. Left too early IMO even though at the time I thought it was the right decision for him. Hondsight's 20/20 though.
