Now for UTEP-MTSU Men's Basketball
Everyone knows UTEP doesn't have a full amount of scholarship players, but here are some of the stats people might not know.

UTEP is:
9th nationally in field goal percentage defense
28th nationally in three point field goal percentage defense
47th in scoring defense

UTEP's biggest weakness is outside shooting and rebounding. The rebounding worries me because MTSU is a very good rebounding team.

Some interesting match ups will be who MTSU has guarding John Bohannon. I anticipate Julian Washburn will be guarding Shawn Jones which will also be interesting. This will showcase Washburn's defensive abilities as last week he was matched up on Marshall's guard Canty who was averaging about 17 points and held him to just 7 points. In order for UTEP to win Vince Hunter must stay out of foul trouble and UTEP must get a few guys to make some 3s. After UTEP lost at home to Charlotte they really need to split this road trip.

I wonder if this thread will be 5 pages like the thread on the women's game?

I will be very pleasantly surprised (shocked actually) if UTEP gets a win tonight. MT beat UAB last weekend, UTEP is short on guards, does not look good but I expect this version of the Miners to get better at playing together as the conference tournament gets closer.

Nice stats Stan. The 3pt fg % is likely attributed to opponents driving to the lane regularly. Hopefully, that is not the case tonight

This MT squad is the most Jekyll and Hyde team I've ever seen. They can look really good and resilient (UAB game) and they can look as lost as last year's Easter egg (Maine, TSU).

It just depends on which team decides to show up. I don't think any sane MT fan will ever guarantee a win.

Yup. Perhaps if we play Fisk that's a likely win, but hell even against an 0-18 D1 team I wouldn't be too sure. Jekyll and Hyde is a VERY accurate descriptor!

P.S. I think the ladies' game thread will be longer 03-wink

I'm not entirely sure why, but I don't see us winning this one.

If the Miners could hold onto the ball and make layups, we'd be in good shape.

It seems like both teams go 5 possessions without a point, one scores, the other scores, then they both go another 5 scoreless possessions.
