What areas or states do you consider important in recruiting?

Michigan, Michigan, Michigan, and the contiguous states. We may find a satellite area or two when we complete the staff.

If he is thinking that recruiting Michigan, Michigan, Michigan is going to bring EMU the BEST players available...he may be in for a rude awakening! We need to continue to hit Ohio, Illinois, California, Florida, Texas. Ask CMU how recruiting Michigan, Michigan, Michigan is working out for Dan Enos. I like the homegrown talent but there is not enough of it to fill a quality roster.

A good point Bob, MSU really concentrates on instate and what MSU doesn't sweep up, U of M gets and then there is CMU, another development is that WMU under Fleck had moved more of its recruiting instate where under Cubit it was about 50/50 Florida and Michigan. So you're right there is a lot of competition for Div I level players with schools like Grand Valley and Saginaw Valley grabbing the borderline FCS level players. Curious as CC fills out his staff whether his hiring decisions will reflect this recruit Michigan first emphasis. Genyk tired this without a lot of success.
Michigan generally gets who they want instate. They don’t get MSU “scrapes” as your comment infers. That is grossly inaccurate. UM and MSU generally split the top ten with UM doing better in the top 5 than MSU.
The problem is, U-M never wins ON THE FIELD. The Wal-verines are underachievers year in, year out and I LOVE IT.

I think you need to amend your statement to the past 6 years. Before that UM thoroughly dominated MSU in football for 40 years. The recruiting trend I mention has gone on for decades. UM out recruits MSU and until the past 6 years it was reflected on the football field. Between the years of 1987 and 2013(MSU Rose Bowl seasons) UM went to 8 Rose Bowls. They also went to a Sugar and Orange.
