Kind of funny that according to some, we are a trap game on the road for unranked UConn.

Why are Tigers playing LeMoyne-Owen on Saturday? Shouldn't that have been scheduled for a week night and maybe UConn on the weekend? Just wondering.

Why are we playing them at all?

We've switched our LO preseason game with a scrimmage with Baylor. I like the way it works out. You get a preseason practice against real high level D1 competition and a real breather mid season to give some of the guys stuck on the bench a chance to show what they've learned without seeding on the line.

I know it is almost impossible, but there is a small risk.

In theory it was an ok, but not great idea. The way it ended up was of no use whatsoever. Obviously, we needed more than 1 game against Austin Peay to prepare for our true road game at Oklahoma State. Also, the scrimmage turned out to be a complete waste of time, considering that 3 of our players didn't make the bus and Shaq barely played because of injury.

It is not an exhibition. It counts towards our overall W/L record, but is not included in RPI calculations.

This was a promise from Pastner to LeMoyne-Owen since we played Baylor in a scrimmage we could only get one exhibition game. Playing them gives their athletic department a butt load of money so it's good for the school. The game will count towards our record, but it will have no effect on the RPI or any other statistics.

Why is such a big deal made of fans or media disregarding a certain game or "sleeping" on a certain opponent?

As a fan, I can literally go through this entire week til Thursday not giving one thought to the UConn game and it won't affect the outcome. I can even tell everyone I know that Memphis will beat UConn by 40, and it won't change how either of the teams play on Thursday.

Media attention is the same way. The only thing that matters are the players and coaches and I can guarantee Kevin Ollie isn't looking over us to the Louisville game.

Players and coaches can't overlook anyone. The fans can do whatever they want. As long as the players and coaches don't listen to us, it's all good.

I pray they never listen to us...we're not the most stable group at times (or most of the time).

Fan and media expectations will have zero impact on players when the players are completely isolated. However, it is reasonable to assume that players are part of our increasingly interconnected world and thus subject - by some degree - to fan and media influences.

I really doubt that the players are reading articles or message boards when they're not in class, doing homework, sleeping or practicing. Maybe in the off season, but these guys are busy right now.

I do not know, but my guess is they take the time to read, watch, and listen about themselves and their team. I hope they never visit a messageboard, but we know it happens.

Interesting that this is only the 2nd time that Memphis and UConn have played and neither has played on the opponents home court. Tigers beat UConn back in the 2007-8 season at MSG 81-70. That was a coming out party for Derrick Rose. Rose scored 24 and CDR scored 33 in that game.

ESPN's Dave O'Brien/Jay Bilas will call Tigers' game against UConn on Thurs. Pretty sure they did Mphs @ OklaSt, and that didn't go so well.
