McGee introduced at Louisville
http://www.al.com/sports/index.ssf/2014/...rrick.html

"He said he did speak to some UAB players on the phone.

"The first thing that factors in is your coaching staff that you have there," McGee said at a Louisville press conference. "Then you think about the players. What I tried to do is educate the players, the ones that I talked to on the telephone, about decision-making."

Free translation : I talked to a few guys I want to hijack to Louisville, and told them that sometimes you need to make a decision to go somewhere you can get paid more.

A few people could have been on his good side. Jordan Howard has good cause to like him. He might hate McGee anyway for other reasons, but Howard got a chance to ball out immediately.

That's what I've heard. Is Louisville really worth sitting out a year for? Staples almost had 500 yards as a freshman, and he was hurt a few games. Plus staying here puts him on a faster track for the NFL.

i believe you wear green/gold glasses. faster track for completing eligibility is not the same as faster track for the NFL

Sitting out is not in his best interests at all.

is it ever in a players best interest to transfer (sit out)?
if no, don't bother, b/c i think almost everybody will agree that you're wrong
if yes, what makes this situation different?

RE: McGee introduced at Louisville
Why would he transfer? I could see him putting up monster numbers next year and bouncing as a junior.

Transferring to Louisville costs him a year of earning potential at the next level. Plus he might have a harder time getting as much playing time there as he would here. If he's at UAB, he will be on the field for every snap he is physically able to play.

Doesn't mean he couldn't be talked into it. And, there could be some "earning potential" right away at a cartel school like UL. At least a lot more perks than a at UAB. If I was Mackin, I'd be keeping these players as busy and engaged in the search for THIER new HC as possible. Mackin should getting all hands on deck to show these kids they are wanted/needed here and be burning the candle at both ends to hold what's left together. Not saying he isn't. Saying I hope that he is.

I bet he is working hard at finding a new HC. With Dr. Watts returning today. the wheels should be in full motion by now. If I were UAB, I'd refuse any transfers to Louisville.

I believe the NCAA would call that tampering.
