Well, in a BBall game, the more skilled team often commits fewer fouls, so since both teams in every game are always equally skilled, foul calls obviously should be just about equal in every game.

Unless one of my premises are flawed.

Well, I am just disgusted because I heard that the refs refused to call any fouls on Toledo all night. Is this the first time a team had no personal fouls? Somebody needs to send the tape to the NCAA or maybe even Jay Bilas!

Not true. They want half of everything to be called a foul.

I sat there watching the refs refuse to call any fouls on Toledo all night. They got away with whatever they wanted. The free throw disparity was huge in their favor. The refs stole a win from Buffalo. I go and read several different message boards and what do I see? None other than Toledo fans whining about the refs.

Seriously... what? Buffalo couldn't get to the FT line all night long because the refs were too busy doing everything in their power to help Toledo win that game. But that doesn't stop you Toledo fans from saying the refs were against you does it? And calling Hurley a crybaby? Nice irony there. You're the ones who are crying constantly despite the refs giving you a win. The refs can't even call an obvious non-shooting foul on your team without your fans and announcers going apepoop.

By the way, Toledo got away with a lot of calls in their favor in the football game against Syracuse a few years ago as well. You can keep crying about the XP call but Toledo got away with a blatant pass interference in the endzone in the 4th quarter which was among a few calls that kept Toledo in the game.

Toledo's style of offense tends to draw fouls and Toledo does usually draw more fouls than they commit. Furthermore the disparity in the number of personal fouls called (21-15) is not as great as the foul shot (24-6) disparity would suggest.

As for a "Cuse" fan being upset about refs favoring Toledo, I don't know whether to be amused, confused or outraged. Your lame excuse that Toledo "got away with blatant pass interference in the end zone" in that game is your biased opinion questioning a ref's judgement call and in NO WAY excuses or cancels out documented and universally accepted film evidence of the blown call on the extra point as you seem to imply it does. No surprise that the Big East Conference officials publicly acknowledged the extra point blunder but totally ignored your alleged phantom "pass interference" call.

McCrea wraps his long/strong arms around the post player every time down in the post fighting for position. He also uses a hop skip and a jump without dribbling from 10 feet for a reverse layup to his advantage also. No doubt he is a long dude, but him and Boothe hand checking down low next to the UT student section is probably what gave UT fans the perception of a miscalled game. Outside of him doing what he pleases the refs favored Toledo...

BUT there was a goal-tending I have photo of the UB player through the bottom of the net scraping the ball on the cylinder which went uncalled and an "out of bounds" call on Lauf where he tiptoed and caught the ball inside the line, when the ref was right on it and still missed the call. The entire student section saw that one also, which is a reason UT fans probably "bitched and moaned" on message boards after the game.

Takes no expert to see that the refs were INCONSISTENT all night long.

I'm just giving my biased side of the story, agree or disagree... we may see a rematch in the MAC tourney.

I think a lot of what you said is fair.. I think the truth of the matter is the officials in this league just aren't very good.

Buffalo hit the boards hard, and fought for many second chance ops. In that video I posted of the last minute, you can see UB had 3 pretty uncontested layups. Toledo broke down a lot, and UB didn't have shooting fouls because a lot of the time they either turned it over, or got an easy bucket. UB had something like 20 turnovers to Toledo's 12 at half.

The refs blew, but UB played no where near perfect. Besides Freelove knocking down 4/6 from three, Buffalo didn't play that well IMO. Refs asside they could have put Toledo away at 26-13 with 10:08 left in the first half.

That is true. Brown hit those two big threes to keep Toledo in the game there. How about now you just do us a favor and beat Akron tomorrow.

Toledo up 37-28 at the half on Akron. Toledo is also dominating on the boards right now.

Toledo wins by 14, Akron never cuts the lead below double digits in the second half. Huge rebound disparity in UT's favor.

EMU Steve: Although Reggie had a couple of big games earlier this season, apparently he fell out of favor and wasn't going to get the kind of minutes he wanted, so he decided to bail....we are already short-handed so this doesn't help our depth.

Every MAC team with a loss. Toledo has four left with Ohio and EMU. They have gone 1-1 vs Akron and Buffalo two of the better MAC teams. So far that appears to be the MAC's five best teams. Not sure of the order of the top five, but it looks likely Toledo is #1. WMU may be 6th after those five top teams. After that I don't see a team that has enough to win the MAC. Kent State looks very average. BGSU, Miami, NIU are somewhere around Kent St in the middle. Bottom is CMU and Ball State. its going to be a long year for those two teams who are way behind everyone else.

that's funny. I could have sworn Toledo beat Buffalo which would make them 2-0, not 1-1 against Akron and UB. maybe I'm wrong?

Nope, beat the Bulls on a buzzer shot. Our loss is to WMU.

Miami up 35-17 over BSU at the half...BSU only shooting something like 26% from the field.

I was leery of this game as well. Just like the loss in football.
Overall, a very complete game by the Rockets. Akron is still very tough, as are several other MAC teams, with a lot of season left.

Poor Ball State. The best they've experience in the last decade is mediocrity. Unfortunately, they have had more terrible basketball than even mediocre.

Miami wins, 64-52. BSU was down 20 much of 2nd half but knocked down a few 3's toward the end. What has happened to the BSU program? Is it Billy Taylor's fault??
