Wait a minute, I didn't say there was even a problem with the school. I'm just surmising potential scenarios. It's also quite possible the league hasn't issued any guidelines yet for the lower bowl situation.

Memphis is not in control of the situation. The league is. And as I mentioned, NO OTHER SCHOOL SEEMS TO HAVE ANY INFO, EITHER, and tickets are being sold through every conference school's ticket office, right now, for terrace level. But you want to blame Memphis for not doing this or that, when none of us have a clue what the situation really is.

My guess is the problem is with a lack of direction from the league, since no other school seems to have any more info than we do. I think it could be that the league is still working on the lower bowl situation, which likely will NOT be a public sale, but decided to go ahead with the upper level tickets to have a better chance of filling it up.

I imagine our ticket office is simply trying to handle inquiries about the lower bowl as they come in, without the policy being finalized yet from the league.

Never said you said that. Sorry if it sounded that way, but generally I would have quoted you if I was going off your specific post. The school admitted it to convingtontiger when he called after receiving an incorrect email about purchasing tickets that there was an issue with the system. That's what I'm referring to.

Okay, cool. I thought you were responding to my post directly above. Honestly, I think a "problem with the system" is code for "we made a mistake but need a handy excuse." I doubt they would announce or admit to anything, lol.

If I worked at Memphis I would let the league know really quick we are getting calls every day and our fanbase wants to fill this up so could we please have some direction. No one on normal really knows what is going on, I have called twice and got two different answers. I know it is a new league so screwing up the first tourney wouldn't be a good start. We will end up with whole sections empty downstairs and people upstairs wondering why they couldn't buy them, the event is in two months.

Agree. Hopefully, at that point, they would have some system to move folks down. But the semis and finals are likely going to be hot tickets, so I don't think it's going to be a big issue. Even the second round games are likely to feature a tourney team in each one.

A lot different than CUSA days. Plus, the winner is no longer a foregone conclusion, with a one-bid league. Probably 4-6 teams could win this tourney.

looks like they are taking the approach that the ncaa does with regional (etc) tickets

you purchase up front, then it is a lottery for what ticket you will get

last year (cusa), i did not purchase thru memphis because the tickets were limited and you could
go to the arena site and purchase the exact seat that was available (that is how the modern world works)

i can see the lower level being reserved for each school, but club and terrace levels should not,
let the arena sale the tickets

Maybe a email campaign to league office? A lot of people are upset on Twitter and Facebook too.

I don't think any of that is true at all. The policy on the American website for the terrace level clearly states that tickets are first come, first serve. The earlier you buy, the better seat assignment you get upstairs. More than likely, all the school ticket sites are tied to a common American server somewhere, b/c the American is selling terrace level, too.

I'm guessing the lower and club seats are reserved for each school, and they are perhaps still working out the details (b/c the conference hasn't announced anything yet), since those are higher demand, and will sell in a shorter time, and partly to preferred school customers (donors, season ticket holders, etc.), by specific school.

Plus, on better tickets, they're going to have to get a feel for demand from each school, before they can go about returning seat allotments and using them elsewhere.

So I bought the terrace level tickets ASAP to make sure I had tickets. Now later I may be offered a chance to buy better seats at a higher price. If that happens, what do I do with the terrace level seats I bought?

RE: AAC BB Tourney Tix now on sale to public
Just got the email about 2 minutes ago saying they are making every effort to assign the best possible seats for me, and offered as many terrace level tickets as I want for $175. I'm sorry, but since those are the exact same tickets offered to the general public over a day ago, I'd say they are not giving every effort to get me the best possible seats. I'm sorry TSF, but you messed this one up.

Sell them. If the top seeds get through to the semifinals, the last two days will be sellouts, so you can likely get your whole session price back for each one.

Plus, since you bought early, and they are first come first serve, you should have the better seats.

They never get out in front of anything and have always sucked at communication to fans. Minimal effort and always have something or someone to blame for the incompetence. Someone is out of town, the sytem is down, the Forum won't tell us, the Liberty Bowl controls that, whatever, can't believe Bowen hasn't figured that part out yet.

It seemed to get better for a while after Bowen took charge, but maybe now it has reverted. They just don't seem to really care or prefer being lazy. The whole system seems kind of disjointed.

Sell them to me. I can't afford to buy a ticket package because I am not sure what days I will have to work. So, I will basically be trying to buy individual game tickets. Really glad I have my trusty street vendor.

RE: AAC BB Tourney Tix now on sale to public
I called my TSF rep at the Tiger Scholarship Fund today to try to find out how tickets returned from other schools (you know that USF, Houston, UCF, etc will not sell their whole allotment) will be handled. They will be returned to the Conference and NOT the University of Memphis.

I asked what criteria would be used by the conference to determine how those tickets would be sold; who would get best seats, etc. and he stated that that has not be decided on by conference or at least he did not know.

I asked if there were still lower level tickets available for high $ donors through the UofM and he said yes-criteria for purchasing those is THIS YEAR'S DONATION. Not lifetime giving or points system or anything to do with how you have supported the Tigers or the conference tournament in the past years. Theoretically, a person could have given $10,000 a year for 15 years and dropped to $5,000 this year due to financial reasons and a first time donor could give $10,000 this year for his first donation and he would have priority over the person who gave $150,000 over last 15 years.

I have talked to Bill Lansden and his successors (emailed Tom Bowen who passed it off to someone else to respond) about the inequity in this system and they say that new revenue has to be the driving factor in TSF priorities.

i was told that $5000 donation was the miniumn donation level to be allowed any opportunity to buy anything except terrace level tickets.

now that i know my 34 years of continuous TSF/Tiger Clubs donations mean jacksquat, i shall only donate when i specifically want something and have no other access instead of the "good of the program" malarky they used to sell.

I'm kinda sorry I posted the thread. Didn't mean to stir up a hornet's nest. I thought it would be a straight forward thread about the cheaper seats, in case anybody wanted to get the better ones, first come first serve. Silly me.

This is a good thread that brings attention to the problems our ticket office and TSF have had for years and need to be corrected.

Meh, we've had plenty of those threads. I was simply trying to alert anybody who wanted to buy upper level tickets, so they could get the best seats available, since it was first come, first serve, and the best seats would go early.

Same here...I am planning on just going Downtown when I can and getting tickets from "street vendors" or fans of losing team looking to sell.
