5 Names Update
I gave the Regents five names to consider prior to English being terminated:
Dino Babers now head coach at Bowling Green
Eric Wolford getting contract extension at Youngstown St.
Brad Salem interviewed for Div II powerhouse North Dakota St for head coach, remains at QB Coach for MSU where he'll help develop Cook for another year.
Doug Mallory is looking for a job.
Jim Collins is still at Saginaw Valley and looking for a new defensive coordinator.
Interesting what happens in the college coaching world.

How did the Regents respond? I think giving the Regents this list was a pretty bold move. Do you think they appreciated it and considered it? Or do you think they thought it presumptious and tossed it? I'm just curious.

Yes ljm, the list was sent to the Regents and the AD. Both did respond with appreciation.
Bovine, of course its easy to criticize what others do. I remember how you told me Salem was a complete waste of time just look at MSU QB were performing. Yeah I guess you missed the Ohio State and Rose Game. You can give us your list anytime.
With the exception of Mallory I think it was a pretty good list of qualified candidates. I'll wager most posters on this board never heard of Babers until I put his name out there.

RE: 5 Names Update
Although I'm not sure this is how a coaching search occurs.
First, coaches voluntarily apply to the AD as soon as word is public that a vacancy exists OR second, a coach search firm acts as a 'head hunter' outfit which collects resumes, does background checks, collects information on salary requirements, etc. etc.
Your one 'big name' was Babers. I don't know if EMU contacted him or he contacted EMU or the coach search firm.
If he contacted the AD or the search firm, then the impetuous was Babers, not EMU or its followers.
IF Babers initiated the application process then your service was to float his name here for us.
Although truth be told that you were way ahead of us, or most of us, on the coach search as many, esp. me, didn't want a 3 month coach search process, which seems way too long to me. [The Lions, and other NFL teams, fired their HC and replaced them in 2 weeks or less, which to me is sweet].

RE: 5 Names Update
Let me clarify not many EMU football followers had Babers on their radar as a potential candidate to replace English.

My lists have been on here several times. You must have missed them -- they're not based on location.

That's right you did post some lists, did you send them to the Regents or AD-just asking.

I did send them to the AD: She gave me a polite thank you.
