Cronin on Cunningham
He'll be on at 2:45pm today. I'm sure it's to talk about this past weekend's article (Doc).

If I get to tune in, I'll try to post a rundown.

FYI - Willie is on the "Mick is underappreciated; I can't believe he puts up with this crap" shtick so far today...

RE: Cronin on Cunningham
WC ranted about UC losing Mick earlier in the year. Supposedly, Mick plays golf with him (no not in season) and tells WC he is not appreciated.

Yeah I'm sure Mick tells or told Willie "X" Cunningham he isn't appreciated

Willie is a) a ratings whore b) anti-UC c) very big X fan and d) a ratings whore who hates UC and loves X.

Yes, I'm sure Willie isn't having Mick on to congratulate him on having a nationally ranked team that is undefeated and in first place. First place in a conference with two schools that have won national championships the past couple of years unlike the Big East in name only.

No, Willie wants to bait Mick to share his concerns about the program and I really hope Mick doesn't fall into that trap.

RE: Cronin on Cunningham
Quick summary:

Willie complimented Mick on the Bearcats current RPI - specifically mentioned it being ahead of UK, etc.

Asked how it was possible to play like they did against X and then play like they did against Memphis. Mick talked about college kids, etc. Mentioned they're doing whatever it takes to win right now.

Asked about realignment and 1-and-done players. Mick says college bball is just as healthy as it was back in the day, but says having upperclassmen is important. Mick doesn't see an overwhelmingly dominate team in NCAA right now. Said in order to be an elite program, have to have both 1-and-dones and solid veterans. Willie pressured him to pick one or the other; Cronin said 5th year senior.

Mick's in favor of changing it to a 2-and-done rule but also favors the ability to go pro right outta high school.

Willie asked him if he's happy, and Mick said he "couldn't be happier; just needs to keep his team healthy."

Pretty uneventful interview honestly.

Thanks for the summary for those of us who couldn't listen.

Any negative sound bite would have been recycled countless times to hammer UC on the Stooge Report so I'm glad the interview didn't go over to the darkside.

Hopefully, the announcement that McConnell is coming back to take Willie's spot is forthcoming.
