With Bill Clark having been USA's DC for their first four years of existence, was it really so unlikely that this thread would have a USA component? Not to mention that it is the only SBC school even tangentially related to this topic, which is on the Sun Belt board, after all.

He's not denying interest, only that he's already been interviewed and accepted the job.

JSU's Clark: Report he's taken UAB job "false, totally false"

Monday morning, he (Clark) emphatically refuted the latest rumor on a popular Internet coaching website that says he is expected to take the job. He told The Star “that rumor today was false, totally false.”

Clark, in Indianapolis for the annual coaches convention, said he went so far to contact the owner of the Internet site that issued the report to complain.

“I was pretty upset this morning,” he said.

He spoke to his entire staff by conference call Monday morning to reassure them he hasn’t taken the job nor even met with the UAB athletics director. He is expected to meet with JSU athletics director Warren Koegel when he gets back to town.

Contrary to popular belief, I would like to see UAb succeed, at some level. That way when South beats you, it just means that much more.

I dont think Clark ends up in Birmingham, he's smart enough to realize it would be at best a "stand still" scenario for his career. At worst though, it could ruin him, so I think he will stay away.

I think Brian Jenkins is a good name. I'd be happy with him.

Only Gran from Cincy has a confirmed interview. All other candidates are being kept pretty quiet.
