Yep. Plus, It's in an old basketball practice facility.

Have you been in the weight room?

Nope. Tbh, all I've seen is what the Garrick McGee tour video showed and the video from back in 07 that showed the improvements and renovations.

In Tuscaloosa years, that is 2 weight rooms ago.

Why don't we compare weight rooms with MTSU, Marshall, & Southern Miss instead of Alabama.....

I promise it's nice compared to other CUSA, Sun Belt, and AAC facilities.

BITD, I rehabbed my knee waiting in line for the same Nautilus machine that the players used.

UAB Facilities have come a million miles since 1985.

I knew you were but many on here are not. A weight room that is six years old is not old in our conference.

Have you so much as set foot in that room? Just curious, because it really is a very solid facility.

It does lack a waterfall, though.

Before that, it was a very poorly designed high school gym, and for a very long time.

It was an old gym from the original high school that's been there since like the early 1900's right?

I don't think it was a part of Ullman.

I think it's in Bell, but since all that isn't new is the subfloor and maybe some of the walls, it really does not matter.

Someone explain the difference between bell, ullman, and wallace. they all confuse me since they are connected buildings.

Drew also seems to know more about the coaching search than he is willing to say.

Ullman is the big, ugly building on University that can't be torn down due to it's being historical. Bell is the slightly smaller, but equally ugly building on the side street directly behind Ullman.

Guessing Wallace is the building that segregated the other two.

The National Register of Historic Places has no teeth to stop UAB from tearing down Ullman. UAB apparently isn't quite motivated enough to deal with the political fallout that will come with the wrecking ball.

Sooner or later, though, as always happens, UAB will say "F**** it, let's build something there", and that will be that.

GIve it couple more years and it will collapse all by itself. Last time I was in there (a couple of years ago), the ground floor ceiling tiles were falling down.

Ullman is the name of the old high school, named for Samual Ullman. Ullman High School (founded as a grammar school, became a high school in 1937, now part of the University of Alabama at Birmingham campus)

http://www.bhamwiki.com/w/Ullman_School

May 16, 1971: Eastern Annex of Ullman High School was rededicated as the Bell Building in honor of George C. Bell, the former principal of the Ullman High School. Bell Gym was a part of the old High School, and was Coach Bartow's practice arena.

The Physical Education Facility was added in 1974. It was later renamed for former Gov. Wallace in 1980.

The indoor swimming facility is still named the "Bell Bym Aquatic Center".
