#24 USC with OJ Mayo.
#5 and Big East Champ Georgetown.
UConn
Oklahoma who also went to NCAA's and advanced
#17 Arizona
Siena by 40 who not only went to the NCAA's but actually Advanced.
@Cincinnati
Gonzaga
We had a great OOC schedule and truly earned #1
After C-USA play and in the NCAA's we validated it even further by beating.
SEC West Champ Mississippi State.
Michigan State
Texas
UCLA
UT-Arlington was the first opposing team we faced in the 2008 NCAA.
I know, and they did make the tourney. But a #1 seed beating a #16 seed wouldn't have helped my argument for validating us being #1.
Ok....The fact that we beat Georgetown,Oklahoma, UConn, USC and a umblemished road record were the keys to attaining a 1 seed. Those aforementioned teams or likeness are not on Wichita's schedule.

I know. Did you see who I qouted and why I posted that reply?
I was validating it. I give two ***** about Wichita State. However if anyone wants to knock them. How about this. They made the final four and haven't lost this season. Enough for me to be quite honest. You can only play who is on your schedule. They have a good team. Final Four qaulity? I'm not sure, but as of right now kinda hard to argue against their ranking.
Final Four and now 17-0. There is only 1 other team in the top 6 that can also claim that.

they made the Final Four last season...have an RPI of 13...and sport wins over Tennessee, St Louis, and BYU...all while undefeated.
After Louisville departs(which I HATE) I would LOVE to have them in the AMERICAN They play TOUGH every game

We got a 2 seed in 06-07 with two top 50 wins.

So we had two. Does Witichta have any or will have any if they go defeated?
I was looking at the wrong year earlier.
Wich St has two, but one may not hold. (They may gain TN though)
The big issue Wich St has is their SOS. It's currently at 79, and will likely continue to drop due to the MVC being so bad this year.
Bring em over to the AMERICAN

Going into the tournament in 2008 we had a record of 35-1, an RPI of 3 with an SOS of 31. More than adequate for a #1 seed. Kansas also got a #1 seed with a record of 32-3, an RPI of 4, with an SOS of 46. UCLA got a #1 seed with a record of 32-3 and an SOS of 20.
The #1 seed was rock solid and earned by every measure known to man.

33-1 heading into the tourney. Ended 38-2.
Yes- zero bad losses and a bunch of nice wins and only one loss total.
Should Wichita State remain undefeated I hope they get a top seed.

One thing that hasn't been mentioned is how tough it is for a school like Wichita State to put together a tough non-conference schedule.
For mid-majors, it's VERY tough to get a home/home against the big boys. Do you think anyone from a "power-conference" wants to go into that hornets nest against a tough team? They have a nice, yet very intimate 10,000 seat arena, that is crazy loud/tough to play in for opponents.

Saint Louis just entered the rankings at #24 this week
Witchita State has a very high quality win on their home court
Comparing them to the 2004 St Joes team that went undefeated in the regular season and got a #1 seed, that team played a tougher OOC schedule than Witchita
It is all going to depend on how teams like Arizona, Syracuse, Michigan State and Wisconsin, and maybe even a team like Ok.St because of the strength of their conference. If the winner of the Big 12 only loses 1 or 2 games in the regular season, and wins the conference tourney, they will get a #1 seed over Witchita as well.
Gonzaga last year was worthy of one more because their werent 4 other teams that were worthy. If that same Gonzaga team played in 2008, they would have been nowhere close to a #1 seed

WSU has been playing some of their high profile non-conference opponents (such as Tennessee this year) off campus at the new Intrust Arena which seats around 15,000.

And, I bet that place is packed and rockin'.
For those that may not know, WSU has one of the best fan bases in the nation.

Actually- even with the ridiculous "mid major" label...as long as we were given access to a lot of tickets- I would love to play a road game at Murray State- as it would be bedlam for them and we would send as many as tickets we could get.
We played at ETSU one year. Played at Little Rock with a bunch of Memphis fans (not a home game for UALR but same idea), have played at Ole Miss and other lesser schools in the past.
