I haven't priced SW against other airlines here, but hopefully their prices will decrease on their East Coast routes when they fully integrate AirTran this year.
The SW flight I took from Memphis to Sarasota was only 1/3 full, and the one I flew out of Chicago to Memphis had about 50 empty seats.
I think many Memphians are either using up their Delta sky miles, or they just don't realize SW is here yet. I don't think SW is sold through Travelocity, either.

I don't think you can see their prices anywhere but their website. Their prices are about $50 to $75 more than anyone else to Charlotte and Charleston. I want to use them but I am making multiple trips with my wife and the price difference adds up fast.

I understand your situation. I remind myself that I save money by not paying to check a bag...both ways. And going non-stop to Tampa, avoiding the hassle of getting on and off in Atlanta, being able to just sit, read a book, have a beverage, is SO nice. SW also has the $40 upgrade possibility that I have really enjoyed when going cross-country; lately, on Delta, the planes have been so packed, it was never an option.
I think SW should buy some very big billboards in Memphis.

Oh, yeah. I understand SW is about to discontinue service to Branson, Key West, and Puerto Rico.

They will when they feel comfortable having enough daily flights, they have never been shy about advertising

That's not accurate about their pricing. I have access through my website, only other place in the world that returns Southwest fares. It's great because I can compare without needing multiple websites. And if the fare goes down before I fly, I automatically get refunded the difference.

Southwest remains a great and innovative company. As much as I hate losing Delta, gaining Southwest is awesome!

My first time through Midway, too. It's a generic, older little airport, but being so small, it's a breeze to negotiate.

And tell your daughter to set her alarm clock to exactly 24 hours before her flight and log on and check in in order to be in the A group to board. They board in the four groups, 1-60 in each group, in order. So, it really matters when you check in. It's nice to not only pick your seat position on the plane but also pick WHO you sit next to. This trip, I avoided sitting next to two babies and one cat. Instead, I sat next to a nice lady who was reading "Parrots for Dummies." 03-lmfao

They do board First Class passengers and families with children first.

Good. I think you kind of have to hit Memphians over the head with "new, innovative" things sometimes. 03-lmfao

SW is now my second favorite airlines, right behind quirky, awesome Alaska/Horizon. And I am also really looking forward to Frontier arriving in Memphis in February.

People I work with rave about Virgin, I will try that out soon. But I like Southwest. Love Field is about 40 miles from my house while DFW Airport is only 8 miles from my house. But the $50 bag fees more than make up for the drive. Cheaper parking too.

The upgrade on SW cannot be beat depending on which airport you are flying out of on any leg of a trip. Being able to be in the A 1-10 boarding group and bypassing normal security is awesome. I have walked past hundreds of people in a security line at both Dallas Love and Midway, as well as St. Louis....and smiled the whole way.

Sorry. I realized I misspoke. You are right; there is no First Class. But you get to board in the first 10 or 15 people and get your absolute first choice of a seat. Some people really love those exit row seats. Plus bypass security.
