Those of us who used to work part time at the Mid South Coliseum remembered when they changed out the tiles mid 80s. Story was that there was probably enough THC on the old tiles to get the whole city high.

Worked there from 74 to 76. Used to see some wild things during my days there.

I agree.

- New concourse TVs
- New ceiling tiles
- New updated scoreboard much like Houston's (Robert Pera should be able to make this happen you'd think)
- Fix the wifi (if this hasn't been fixed yet)

This would really put the FEF over the top.

Why would he make upgrades to a building that he doesn't plan on using in 6 years? 05-stirthepot

what's wrong with the wifi? Not able to accommodate 16,000 people simultaneously?

I don't.

I'm just having a hard time figuring out why a basketball town can't sellout 1/4 of its home NBA games.

I go to very few Griz games but when I do, I would bet there is 10k at most. I am sure they have better attendance at some games, but I am low man on the ticket chain and I only get the company tickets on the less desirable games.

OMG, here we go with this again. The Grizz have been here for 14 seasons now and people are still wasting their time and breath talking about when they are leaving. Year after year of these 14 seasons nay-sayers have been predicting their demise as a year away. Please....they aren't going anywhere so stop your wishful thinking. Stop worrying about whether they sale out a certain number of games; they aren't alone.

Their average attendance is 16,000 plus, and that's regardless of how many butts are in the seats. As long as you're averaging that amount in tickets sold then that's damn good for one of your smallest markets. I'm a fan of both(Tigers & Grizz) and I wish them both success. I've been a season ticket holder of the Grizz since day 1 and to this day I still haven't made every game in a season. I also attend about 10 - 12 gms/season for the Tigers also but there still are days when I don't wanna make those either. So there's not one team in the NBA nor the collegiate level where every seat is filled for every game.

With 41 Grizzlies games...18 Tiger games...NBA playoffs...AAC/CUSA tourneys...major music groups...it should be easy to justify spending the money.

They are always changing out the tiles because of roof leaks that drip on and stain the acoustical ceiling tiles. I guess it's just close to impossible to have that much roof not leak somehow.
The picture of the Toyota Center in Houston is appropriate since they actually had 2 rain delays last night during the Rockets game due to a leaking roof. I remember the game at the Pyramid where it was leaking during a game right in front of Bob Huggins and the Cincinnati bench and caused the game to be delayed.

I've noticed the tiles looking rough too. Could use some touch up. Don't get me wrong, the place is state of the art but like everything else, it could use a bit of a face lift. I love Houston's jumbo tron! Looks amazing.

I always thought the one at the Forum was a bit small...

Nuggets don't have a bad looking one either! Let's see Duke, Kentucky, North Carolina or Kansas top that!

Supposedly the Forum will be receiving a new jumbotron, similar to Houston & above, next season.

talk about a building that needs upgrades

Oh, gosh! My father was the second tenant in that state-of-the-art building in 1963. I officed there for about 12 years in the 1980's-90's. Saw all the "club" facilities on top die. Saw the 4th floor cafeteria flourish and then slowly die. Saw all the tenants leave. Saw the top floor revolving restaurant die. Now just a few tenants left, and some kind of plans in the works for it.

They had originally planned to build a second building next to it on the parking lot to the south. The problems with it are the low ceilings, very close columns that make parking in the garage a nightmare, and the fact that it is an earthquake disaster waiting to happen. It was not built with the proper frame to survive an earthquake, and sits on several floors of garage. Plus it is built on an old Forrest family slave auction site. From my time there, I swear it's haunted. But it is SO convenient to the courthouse.
