Who to pull for in conference play
Been reading a lot of posts that state we should be rooting for Louisville, Cincy and UConn in conference games for RPI reasons, etc.
I don't agree. This was the thinking in the CUSA scenario where we HAD to have someone good in conference play to get a extra top 50 win or 2 but that has changed.
We want to win the American regular season (and conference tourney) championship. The committee will reward the regular season champion. So, like in the old Metro conference days, always pull against the top teams; gives the Tigers a better chance to win regular season championship.
The seeding will work itself out if we do that.

With the balanced schedule, it's not like we play one team more than another. I agree, winning the conference is more important than an extra top 50 win or two.
That said, I don't think it's going to matter much who I root for

I think we are halfway between CUSA and a very good conference. For that reason we (unfortunately) need for the top teams to win. We need for 2-3 of our conference mates to be ranked, and we need more wins against them.

The more ranked teams you beat, the better seed you get.

Rankings have no impact on seedings whatsoever.

Technically true, but "signature wins" do, and they generally are wins over ranked teams.

I wouldn't root for Louisville if you paid me and then had Penny tell me it was ok too.

Is this a new rule?

Top 25 RPI, Top 50 RPI, road/neutral and last 10 are primary seeding factors for the NCAA tournament.

I read a thread from yesterday regarding who to pull for between SMU and Louisville and I believe you wanted SMU to win that game.
I agree with your logic today as opposed to yesterday.

Personally, I wanted Louisville to beat SMU. I think it would have taken some of the luster off our win there, from a national perspective, if they had lost their very next game after our win. Especially at home.
