I don't think he was saying you were or had. Just with how the first weekend is playing out, it looks to be wide open...or at least that's how I see it. The one bid is the simple fact that even if USM plays lights out, it will be left out of NCAA's unless we win the C-USA tourney

I think Southern Miss could get an at-large, but needs some luck and total domination between now and the conference final.

We are going to need at least a pair of our ooc foes that we beat to finish in the rpi top 50, plus we need at least a 14-2 conference record with a tournament finals appearance or 15-1 or 16-0 with an earlier tournament loss. Right now, it does not seem as though those conditions are likely to happen.

This is actually pretty exciting (even though we're a one big league). In years past we all pretty much figured how the standings were going to lay out. I have zero idea at this point what it is going to look like. Crazy way to start conference play.

Yep, looks like if you can win at home and split on the road, you will be in it to the last weekend.

I wouldn't say that just yet. USM and possibly Louisiana Tech have a shot at an at-large. If USM loses only two more games (at UAB and at MTSU both back-to-back in the same week) and wins at least one tournament game, they'll be in at 25-6 against D1 competition and 27-6 overall. The only games that I see USM as a dog are the two games mentioned. And possibly at home against Tech.

I agree with Funslinger, but the loss @Tulsa really hurt. From an at-large standpoint, Southern Miss cannot do worse than 14-2 (and *Maybe* worse than 15-1) and reach the finals of the C-USA Tournament. Same for La. Tech.

For everyone else in C-USA, it's the auto-bid or bust.

I think we get an at-large with three losses (from Tulsa and two more from either UAB, MTSU or Louisiana Tech) and a semifinal appearance in the tourney. At 25-6 it'll be very hard to keep us out. Problem is that it will be very tough to do that.

Anyone with three losses in this league will have to win the tournament to get in no doubt. There will be no one in this league with less than three loses. 1 bid league, and a bunch in the NIT, and other tournaments if they wish to be in them.

With the NIT giving auto-bids to conference regular season winners that don't get into the NCAA tournament, I don't even know if we'll have a bunch in the NIT unless there are few teams that win the regular season and lose in their conference tournament.

1 in the NCAA and 2-4 in the NIT. It'll be a piss poor post season showing for CUSA.
