GameDay: @Buffalo
The most interesting thing is that Chad said EMU will fly to Buffalo (and also Chicago for the NIU game) and bus back.
That sounds like a GREAT idea to me. Who wants to clear customs (lengthy process) and then repeat in Buffalo + the long bus ride.
We play Ohio in Ypsi so that it off the road schedule this year. Miami is the lone lengthy road trip via bus, I'd guess, but isn't that bad of a trip.
SUNY-Buffalo is a 3 1/2 point favorite. Another chance for folks betting on EMU to 'like taking candy from a baby'.

RE: GameDay: @Buffalo
A lot of the same guys back from the team that we blew off the court last year, including Javon McCrea, arguably the best player in the MAC. I feel like he's been at Buffalo for 8 years...can't wait for him to graduate. They also brought in a transfer from Alabama State who is their second leading scorer and 3-point sniper, Josh Freelove, as well as a healthy Jared Oldham.
I don't think it'll be nearly as easy as it was last year (remember Austin Harper having a career day?), but I still like our chances somewhat. Outside of Freelove and big man Will Regan, they don't shoot it very well. McCrea is a horse and will get his for sure, but containing everyone else will be key. I think Karrington has a big day and Combs knocks down some clutch 3's, which helps us pull off the "minor upset".

This is going to be one tough game to win. I am not too worried about us defensively as long as no one gets in foul trouble. Offensively, if we play like we did at BGSU I just do not see is winning this game.

I don't know if Buffalo is as good defensively as BG. They certainly aren't as athletic. I think it'll be a bit easier for us to get to the rim against this team. Hopefully we finish around the basket today.

RE: GameDay: @Buffalo
I have Chad on the radio (WEMU.ORG via an iPad using the Photon browser - as WEMU requires Flash) and the UB webcast.
Hope they sync up.
Nothing worse than the audio being 5 seconds behind the video... :(

Usually the WEMU audio is ahead of the MAC stream. I typically have to pause the radio cast to sync them up. Last week was rare in that they were perfectly synced already.

Hot start offensively...bad start defensively. Riley isn't holding the middle well. Some easy layups down low for Buff.

Hitting some ridiculous threes. I can't imagine they keep this pace up.
If we can just weather this storm and stay within 5, we'll be fine. I like how we are attacking the basket. Glenn is playing great so far.

UGHH I hate when refs call charges on 5'11 guys. As if he could really knock 6'8 Will Regan down. Such a flop.

RE: GameDay: @Buffalo
Tied at the half. 30-30
Honestly, we are outplaying them. They hit some prayers and contested 3's that I can't really be mad at, but we are hounding McCrea. We are also hitting the offensive glass well. Riley has been active after starting poorly.
Gotta get Ward some shots in the 2nd half. Far too often, he's phased out of the offense. And hopefully we keep working Bryant down low.

Even thought the game is 30 - 30, this team looks like a team which could win big this year:
Talley is playing like Talley,
Lee shot the ball very well early,
Riley is showing development,
Bryant is a dynamic, impact player,
and Ward needs to get hot.
There isn't a hole in the starting five.

Started the half great. Now its getting ugly again. Too many defensive breakdowns the last few possessions.
We are clinging to a 2 point lead though.

Buffalo is a tough place to win -- Out of the way location, difficult travel itinerary, and winning on the road in the MAC is difficult anyway. We look tired in the second half.
