Clark would crawl to UAB. Better go talk to him again because he is sending out different signals.

As I stated earlier, I haven't spoke to him about UAB. I will assure you UAB will have give great incentives to get him to crawl. Other than money, UAB is way behind even JSU. Bill will leave JSU but it will be at place you can win and move to the next level.

If we want him, we will get him and you will be choking on your gamecock. JSU will always hold a special place in my heart, a lot of youthful days partying on that campus but UAB it is not.

His decision will not be a UAB v JSU decision. Bill will make a choice on which will get him to a big time job (SEC, B12, etc). UAB will have to make an offer he can't refuse which will be hard because of the BOT relationship. Whether real or not it is the perception, UAB doesn't control it's on destiny.

UAB could basically triple his salary and still be in the ballpark of what we were paying McGee. AND we're going to be collecting a buyout check from the 'vile.

No UAB is not behind JSU. I have personally been in every facility you have and have personally worked with your last two AD's and President. I also hang out in the luxury suites with your biggest boosters when UAB is not playing. The only thing you have is an addition onto an old stadium that I personally built. I assure you UAB is not behind JSU. If we want him, and that is a huge if, we will get him. No disrespect, just fact.

I have a feeling GM is gonna fight the buyout(didn't get all promised?)...

Most here have said they don't want a high school coach. Then why do we want a high school coach with one year experience coaching a small college.

I haven't heard it either. Just a feeling I've been having. In any event, I'd rather spend the money fighting HM for it than give him an out!

He is using the job opening to positioning himself for job openings in the future. Making sure his name and accomplishments are being publicized. The other negative would be acquiring the one and done label but if you win no one cares.

UAB fans may laugh but the perfect guy is a UAB grad, Jack Crowe. If he can't persuade the BOT UAB needs to give up. Let him have 5 years then people would be knocking down the doors for the job and facilities.

Our perfect candidate is the guy Jacksonville State wanted to get rid of and hire Bill Clark in his place?

Where would Bill go at the FBS level that would have more potential than UAB? Is there a significantly bigger place that would take a guy straight from FCS? Also UAB is pretty much down the street. And a big raise.

Most any FBS school would be easier to win at than UAB. This year I doubt any other opportunity will arise but waiting a year or two want deter him. He will get his chance at an FBS job and most likely several.

You didn't answer my question, because the answer is "nowhere." No program that is substantially better than UAB is going to hire an FCS coach as their head coach. If he wants to make that jump right now, UAB is the place, or else you're looking at Idaho or Eastern Michigan.
Bowling Green, Wyoming, GaSo, UVA, and Minnesota are just a few who have recently hired FCS coaches. All would be easier and better situations than UAB.

Right now, I have no idea which ones would hire a FCS coach but this will not be his only opportunity to coach FBS ball.

Georgia Southern is not even fully eligible in FBS, so that's an FCS school hiring an FCS coach. I don't think any of those jobs are easier or better than UAB. Plus who wants to live in Minnesota?

I guess we will see if you hire him. If you don't I'm sure you then didn't want him.
I don't think I've ever met you but if you've used McKees suite I may have.

I've used Walters, Jones and Red's but usually hang out in the press box. I'm not sure if we even want him. That is up to our selection team.

Only the finest. I'm sure they'll pick us a winner. If we did sneak McGee by them last time, they'll be sure to repay that.
