Several of us have info that refute that.

If McGee really left because it was taking too long on the stadium then someone lied when he was hired. Either Mackin lied to him and told him the stadium was around the corner or he lied when he said all he needed was a flat piece of land and we already had what we need at UAB to win (the old, even) Conference USA, or he's lying now. Guess which two of the three possibilities I vote for.

Clarification: I don't doubt that *some* member of the Board of Trustees said that, but it's obvious that they *all* didn't feel that way and that Carol Garrison didn't put a stop to it.

McGee's "back door exit" was the top story on every local TV station in Birmingham last night. I can't remember which one (FOX 6 or TV 42 are my first two guesses), but this was mentioned briefly on the air as one of the reasons McGee tendered his resignation.

I heard it myself. And I did call JOX this morning around 6:45 to chime in. They went to a 5 minute station break before taking my call, then cut me off less than a minute into the conversation. No, I did not use any colorful metaphors. Jay tried to stop me from making a point about the BOT's pattern of obstruction against UAB, beginning with the Jimbo Fisher debacle. When I got to the on-campus stadium proposal..."click!"....

The "flat piece of land" quote is getting old. We all know it takes more than that and that was simply coach speak. Anyone who took that seriously knows nothing of sports?

And have you ever started a project, figured what you needed, but once you got into the project realized that you missed the mark and you needed more materials.

Even if McGee said all he needed was a flat piece of land it still doesn't change the damn fact UAB needs a new stadium to play in.

I quit listening to WJOX years ago. They are nothing but Finebaum wanna be's and are only good at stirring the pot and getting people to call in. They never have anything relevant or insightful to say. Turn it off you will be thankful you did.

One of the things JOX/Kurre was harping on this morning was that there was no specific plan in effect for people close to UAB to see and look forward to, too much cloak and dagger stuff...I wanted to touch on the fund raising endeavor UAB's embarked upon, and how much was to be going into athletics, namely, facilities upgrades, but never got the chance, because of my "limited" time...But they let some caller named "Mike" go on and on for several minutes against UAB between 6:30 this morning and the time I was up for conversation with them.

For as much as people talk about JOX, this message board carries more negativity than I ever hear on JOX. Generally JOX never talk UAB, you can get your daily dose of negativity, doom and gloom here. So if I am not embarrassed about posting here, I am not going to be embarrassed that I listen to JOX.

This. Amazing no one listen to WJOX but knows a lot about what they say over the airwaves...lol.

I listen to Matt Murphy in the morning, Richard Dixon in the afternoon, & Leland Whaley in the evening.

I listen to other stations but I tuned in today because I knew there would be UAB talk. Do I listen to Jox regularly? hell no. I have not tuned to that station since Haase was a guest months ago. Most here do the same thing. They only listen when they know for sure a UAB related topic will be on. I don't see people here reporting on JOX on a daily basis.

For the record, Murphy talked about the UAB coaching change this morning & there was a little bit of incorrect statements here & there on things, but nothing blatant like you expect at Jox.

When things settle down in a few days the media will realize how this was probably a good thing for UAB.

When I think something germane to UAB is going to be discussed (like yesterday) I tune in. Other than that, generally nada.

Oddly enough, Pondscum has piled on, all right. He's piled on McGee.
