Hadn't noticed those percentages, figured Sanders might be pretty high, Caupain does a lot of things well.
Add to that Thomas hitting a respectable 38.5, granted he doesn't shoot a lot of them, kind of seems like a reaction to previous years struggles.
Maybe that's do to Kilpatrick's current slump. He snaps out of that, I like this team's potential.

6'4" white kids who can really shoot it are literally a dime a dozen out there. I am sure we all played with one in high school and I am sure the vast majority of them did not did not play high major bball.

If you don't know the types of players Mick recruits by now you never will. Please don't hold your breath waiting for a white kid zone buster. He follows a simple formula in recruiting and it = long and athletic. I am sure there is a quote out there by Cronin that states it.

Instead of focusing on all GMC players we need to be landing McDonald's All Americans at this point.

Please don't be silly.

Mick seems to be getting his inspiration from Syracuse and Louisville with long and tall athletes and it's worked pretty well for those programs. I get the sense that he may finally be reaching critical mass--having enough of these types of players to change games. This may be just the beginning of a very exciting era for Bearcat basketball.

This defense we have been playing- what is it the #2 scoring defense in the country? Is based upon the players we have. Long quick guys. Mick has already said defense comes first. If you don't have the athleticism to play defense at a high level, you aren't playing for Mick Cronin.

Could Benzinger stay in front of Joe jackson, miles mack, or Shabazz Napier? Probably not. Neither could JD3 and we all know what happened to him.

We are never going to see a Princeton style game plan around here guys. Get over it.

Amen. Get guys who fit your system and who you can develop.

Not all will pan out of course. Heck, we were all bummed to miss on God's Gift and Chris Obekpa and I think combined they might be averaging 5 points a game for St. John's this year.

JJ's surprise development and all around game puts him ahead of Obekpa. JJ's #14 in blocks with 3.29 bpg. Obekpa is #2 with 4.13 bpg.

The staff chose Cheikh over God's Gift. Most fans had heard of God's Gift and not Mbodj, so it came as a surprise or they took it as we lost out, but that wasn't the case.

We did lose out on Obekpa for whatever reason (seems like there were whispers about his recruitment late, but who knows). He isn't a great offensive player, but he has the number 1 block rate in the country and rebounds well. He shoots better than 52% from the field, but given how little St. John's features him on offense, I'm guessing they are mostly dunks. But I still think we would take him if we could have.

I am ready to get athletic guys who can play D and also score. I think we have accomplished that with a lot of the guys we have inked of late.

Obekpa on this team;s defense just would not be fair. Having an eraser like that behind you allows for even more pressure on the ball. JJ's a good shot blocker but he is a different type.

I think in a few years, this conversation will look very stupid. Mick has now gotten long, athletic kids who also have the ability to score without 3 years of development.

The solution to improving the program isn't going away from our strength (defense) to improve the offense. Its getting players that are capable of playing great defense and offense. The best teams are very strong at both ends of the court.

Those type of players tend to be the highest rated recruits. But like you said, its seems we are doing very well here recently after a bit of a miss with our 2011 class.

As I mentioned earlier, UC has a three point shooter in Sanders that is shooting 44% but there is a segment of the fanbase that thinks the only way to get a shooter is to recruit a suburban white kid because they know nothing about stats. Sorry that is just the truth. There are good shooters on this roster, they just need more opportunities.
