Tulsa Blasts Tulane 97-71
...Without our 2nd best player.

60 points in the first half. I think we ended with 5 guys in double digits on a hot shooting night. 57 % from the field.

Was 60-32 at the half, 95-60 with a few minutes to go.

Tulane's MBB-disaster continues. Tomorrow's game @North Texas suddenly becomes hugely important.

saw a just a little of it, congrats. Students still out? Surprised that there wasn't more of a crowd there to see it. Not trying to start anything, just an observation.

A 5-9 home team doesn't draw well at TU.

I feel like Tulsa is going to be that team that disappointed OOC and then ends up making some noise in conference play.

Me too. They are a lot better than their record indicates, and they are battle tested. Most teams in the conference would struggle with their OOC schedule. I'm not sure they're in the top tier of C-USA this year, but I definitely think they may be in the next best group.

Speaking of crowds, I was watching UCLA/Zona last night and the Pavilion was no where near a sellout with the #1 team and conference foe in town. I know it's L.A. but that was a little shocking to me.

Ya, students were out and it was a late game (8 PM) on a Thursday with dreary weather (not really an excuse just the conditions). A lot of our dependable fans that aren't students are later middle aged to older, so play times, weather, and record make a big difference in how many fans butts you see in seats.

I guess when we play USM next it will really indicate which echelon of the conference we fall into.

The win against Tulane was a confidence builder for a very young Tulsa team. You look at who is hitting the court in games. Its virtually all freshmen and sophomores. That's a tough way to start a very demanding OOC schedule. The team has started to get it the last two games. Here's hoping we give USM the game they don't want. This Sunday game against USM should be better attended than the Tulane game. Anything would be better than the paltry attendance announced during the Tulane game.

They do that almost every year.

As for the Wave, our players tuned this coach out 2 years ago. The AD has his head in the sand.

Do you believe that Dickson either intends to retire, or else expect to be fired himself, and so he's leaving this decision (MBB head coach) for the next guy?

I have no idea. But he's got a long history of pampering coaches and ignoring problems until they get completely out of hand. Down 28 to this Tulsa team at the half; 10 points against K State at the half.....it's out of hand. He'll have to do something

Just to clarify for the non-Tulane people, that doesn't mean we were down by 10 points at the half vs. Kansas State, it means we scored a total of 10 points in the first half. We wound up losing 72-41.

Quote:that would mean he'd have to get Perry Clark alumni on that committee, and he's avoided that like the plague.
(Emphasis added)

What's that all about?

FWIW, Tulane is winning @North Texas, 38-32 with 16:21 left in 2ndH

I don't know.. Heck, he should put Perry Clark himself on the committee. No use worrying about it until March.
How about a W today, to try to ease some of Thursday's debacle.
