I've got a screen shot of that McGee Roll Tide tweet around here somewhere. I need to find it.

My post: What?

You must not have been around during that time, they played the deaf school from D.C. area. Never played Knoxville College duing Hilyer's tenure. I know because I was at every game they played both home and away. Your boy Zero played Knoxville college. With players with no scholarships Hilyer beat some very respectable programs. You need to go back and check the schedules. If you haven't got them I have. So go back to your Zero and tell me what he accomplished. Look at the thread about rating former coaches and see what people think of your Zero.

Anyone think that GM didn't want to take UAB to Arkansas and be exposed?

Why would Arkansas matter?

He was exposed against Memphis and a 23-straight loss Southern Miss team.

That's where the last vestiges of his greatness exists. In their eyes its all UAB's fault.

If you lose to a C-USA team that's lost 23 straight, losing to an SEC team is simply an expected thing.

Houston Nutt screwed up Arkansas, then screwed up Ole Miss. The only advantage he would have is UAB is already screwed up.

I think it is pretty clear that McGee was the worst UAB coach thus far. I'd quickly take Callaway over him.

Despite how he came to UAB, Callaway wasn't a quitter and managed to stay in some games that, on paper, he shouldn't have.

McGee dismissed one of the best returning players for some mystery reason (instead of working to change his attitude?). And his best strategy calls included kicking off both halves of a game and throwing the ball on your own 25 with 30 seconds left in the half with a lead (intercepted).

He's clueless. He thinks I am a Watson Brown fan because I live in Tennessee and said our best wins were under Watson.

Remember when the Tulane coach punted on third down. LOL

I think it a waste of time to argue at this point in time about who was the worst UAB football coach . The best of the worst is not a goal to be pursued in the future.

UAB is about to hire its new FBHC and we can only hope it is a good hire because we need to improve our record and this is the coach who can do that. The new coach faces a challenge in keeping our recruits committed to UAB through NSD in Feb. Then he must turn to keeping the roster players and new JUCO signees happy and willing / eager to stay in the program.

I don't know any of our prospective coaches except by hearsay reporting. A "poor fit" coach at one school has been known to be successful at another school later. The athletic administration has their work cut out for them and we all hope they get it right this time. We need to win games next season.

We had some really good, quality wins with Watson Brown. We were #24 in the BCS for one week... losing to Tulane the next week and all the other letdowns during his tenure is why many UAB fans will never embrace him as a decent coach. Not to mention the mess with Pat Sullivan and the lack of team control he exhibited during his tenure.

FAU's coach called to spike the ball on fourth down this year. Of course, that was far from his biggest problem.
