so you want Jimbo Fisher, Nick Saban, Gus Malzahn, or Bill Belichek?

Well we always hear Nick Saban talking about how he wants to challenge himself and UAB would be quite the challenge. lol

I have seen multiple places Terry Bowden's name. I know he's at Akron, and I know he wouldn't be a popular choice among some.

But I will say he has a proven record of success, he has alot of Alabama and southeast recruiting connections, and would probably pull in some Birmingham-based Auburn supporters. I'm certain there are more than a few Auburn folks that still have fond memories of Bowden and like him.

There may be other (maybe even better) options, but I personally would like to at least see us interview him.

Considering the morality insinuations being thrown around about McGee, I don't think Bowden would be the idea candidate.

The cb is right...remember that a proven FCS winner is still a proven winner.

Yep... I'd take a chance on one. Give them a chance to scale up their success.

Prattville made its first state championship game appearance under Clark in 2004, with the team allowing three touchdowns in four postseason contests leading up to the final including recording a pair of shutouts.  The Lions advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2005 playoffs before dropping a two-point decision as well.
 
Clark posted a 107-11 (90.7%) overall record during his tenure, suffering his last regular-season loss during the second week of the 2002 season.
 
Clark served on the staff of the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Classic three times, including as head coach in the summer of 2007.  He also served as head coach in the 2004 North-South All-Star Game.
 
Following graduation from Jacksonville State in 1990 with a degree in physical education, Clark began his coaching career as an assistant at Piedmont High School and also has coaching stints at Tuscaloosa County High School, Coffee County (Ga.) High School and Dothan High School.

That might not be a bad idea.

Mark Hudspeth would be my first choice, but Vandy may get him after Franklin leaves.

Clark would not overly disappoint me although I was skeptical about the hire at JaxState.

We have to have a guy that has been a successful head coach - one where the press release can say "he averaged 9 wins per season while at University State"

Franklin leaving for PennState puzzles me. 2 yr bowl ban plus heavy sanctions is not a recipe for success, especially given that the sanctions will start hurting as the previous players graduate with no scholarships available. Add to it that the previous guy was competitive.

Think Orgeron might give it a look? I'd heard he was up for the Florida Atlantic job, but the Owls chose a man named "Partridge" instead.

Orgeron seemed to do a good job holding USC together.

I was a little surprised that he wasn't chosen as the successor at USC.

There is a Brown without a job.

Quite frankly I see nothing wrong with Watson Brown returning. And sadly, with Lane Kiffin likely headed to Tuscaloosa, I think the next best option would be someone like Jeff Bower, Houston Nutt, Tommy Bowden, or even Mark Mangino.

He was a perennial loser at Ole Miss.
