Alabama 247 site says Steele is staying at Bama.

Looks like we may need Clemson fans help again. The new rumor is Tyrone Nix. He coached at USC for a few years as thier DC. He can't be worse than Steele, can he?? Thx.

So you compared 2 years. Steele's 4th year and Venables 2nd. So what was Steele's 2nd year like?

If Nix is the guy I doubt you see much difference scheme wise & he was solid at s. Carolina & Ole Miss

I think Louisville really dodged a bullet there. Thinking back to the WVU Orange bowl, WVU score TD's on their first 10 possessions and the DC had no answer for it at all.

Or the players quit on him.

Nix had some good defenses at South Carolina, and IMO was the scapegoat for the entire team collapsing in 2007. His entire time there the offense was horrible, and in '07 even starting 6-1 the strain of carrying the team finally got to them and they fell apart, finishing 6-6. Since the offense was all Spurrier and Spurrier Jr he didn't have a sacrificial lamb on that side of the ball big enough, so Nix was encouraged to look elsewhere. Ole Miss had an opening and he joined Houston Nutt's staff.

Plausible, since all Steele did was rant and rave on the sidelines and never made in-game adjustments no matter how bad his gameplanning was failing. I probably would have quit too.

That 2011 Clemson team had three defensive players who were drafted in the first four rounds of the draft the following April, and two more drafted this past April, three of which were on a DL that averaged just over a sack a game. The talent was there, but when you are incapable of devising a scheme to utilize it you are going to fail, and fail he did.

It looks like UofL got Steele a nice raise from Saban. I guess Nick liked what he was doing recruiting wise at Bama. UofL fans weren't thrilled with the likely hire of Steele so we'll see where we go at Def. Coor.

If he wasn't a coach he wasn't allowed to do any recruiting.

He is not allowed off campus but he evaluates prospects...kinda like a GM

Nothing I can find states this is official other than wishful thinking. Do you have a link Wilkie on thiis??? I wouldn't mind this hire for I wasn't to crazy about Steele being the DC, and was up set about the rumors of Randy Shannon and Gene Chizik not coming to fruition. If you have a link post it.
