You can go home if you screw up and need to start over.

Perhaps - a large segment of WVU's fanbase would love it.

And a large percentage of the fan base would revolt.
I'm surprised as to just how many of the Louisville fans don't seem to have any problem with Petrino.

I mean, I understand the man will put up points and win some games for your team, but this is a move a school like Western Kentucky makes because they don't have the same kind of options and are stuck in a bad place to try and build their program. Louisville doesn't have these restrictions. It's not a move that a big time school would normally make.

You can't tell me they couldn't have found a successful coach that would take over a good program. I don't understand this.

I think one issue Louisville is running into is the time of the opening. Look a few years ago when Pete Carroll left for Seattle in January. USC got Lane Kiffin. Tennessee got a pretty uninspiring hire in Derek Dooley. When you make the move at this point- your options are limited.

Signing day next week, Top experienced candidate available, Assistant Coaches always looking for Bigger things after You give Them a Head Coaching job. New Conference with strong schedule ahead including Current National Champions and Notre Dame. Need New Coaching staff. What choice do You have ? Word is negotiations and interview took over 9 very intense hours between Tom and Bobby. Wouldn't you like to have been a fly on that wall !.

I don't think HS signing day is next week(maybe JUCO) think it's actually a dead period for recuriting until the 16th if memory serves me right.

Yeah that's right. I was thinking that it was then, but its in February. Still need to try and keep from losing more recruits. And try to get in on others. BTW I saw on ESPNU that Texas lost 3 Recruits since Charlie was announced.

Hide your wife, hide your kids, hide your motorcycle.

In all seriousness, I'm surprised Louisville isn't as lucrative of a job as it could be to get the caliber (Or debatable lack there of) of a Bobby Petrino. You have a very (Pardon the pun) strong athletic program slingshotting their way into the ACC and possibly a threat to represent their division in Charlotte. I know losing Teddy Bridgewater will be a hit to the program, but I like what's going on there.

Yeah, I'm sure there is an exit clause for Louisville based on bad behavior...

This is a good hire for Jurich and Louisivlle. Let's hope Petrino has a little personal humility but he can lead and win.

Something else to consider- If Petrino doesn't go to Louisville, Kentucky will have an opening next year that Petrino will fill.

Worked for Mike Riley at Oregon State, albeit under much different circumstances.

You sure those 9 intense hours weren't Jurich and Petrino haggling over the hookers-to-blow ratio in his contract?

No, they were just going over the admin assistant resumes(err, pictures) for Petrino to select one.

Much different. Riley is a high-character guy who grew up in Corvallis (his dad was an OSU assistant coach). And, after bouncing around from job to job for several years, Riley realized that going home and digging in there was a really good deal for him. He's had opportunities to leave again (USC) and hasn't.

Off topic but I was just looking at Mike Riley's bio because you mentioned him and just saw that Oregon State went from 1971-1998 without winning more than four games. I didn't realize they were that awful for so long.
