Funny how Notre Dame and TAMU are dead last...

Interesting ranking they use - point differential can be easily fudged around.

What a ridiculous ranking. You know, some of our bowl games were against real opponents from real conferences.

Real conferences USM would get throttled nowadays in.

I dont' get how they do the rankings... 3-1 SMU is at #6, but 3-1 Vanderbilt is at 25.

Utah is 10-1 in bowl games, but rank behind 8-4 USC? Because USC had bigger blowout wins?

Sorry, I don't gt this ranking system _at all_. You win one-blowout bowl game, and you're going to the top of the chart?

RE: Ranking every team based on bowl games in the BCS Era.
When a team who went 0-1 over 16 years is ranked 62nd and the bottom 3 teams have 13 bowl wins between them (and all have been to a BCS bowl), you're doing something wrong. Add to that that numbers 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 14, 15, 16, 18, 19, and 20 have 0 national championships in this time frame but numbers 13 and 17 have 2 and number 62 has 1, and this is just starting to get silly. To get a real sense of who the best bowl team was in this era, assign point values based on number of berths, winning percentage, and margin of victory per game. Then add these numbers together. You might also want to add point values for BCS bowl wins, because as much as everyone hates the BCS, a win in the Rose Bowl should be worth more than a win in the Idaho Potato Bowl.

This, like most of these polls, are pretty much worthless and only good for water cooler conversation. That said, The Herds bowl record is very good.
Surprised SJ isn't on here throwing a tantrum.

NO!!! Again, just because a bowl has a more prestigious name it's better?

Someone else claimed that in another thread on the college sports board, and I started seeing red.

So Notre Dame's win over Rutgers is the same as Clemson's over Ohio State? I'm sorry, the best teams might not have been in the NCG over the last 16 years, but the best teams more often than not were in the other BCS bowls.

RE: Ranking every team based on bowl games in the BCS Era.
I understand not including number of berths, because that is a reflection of the season and they are trying to determine who performed the best in the bowl they were in and not how they got there. They also made an assumption that teams matched up in bowls were even. I believe this is why they wrongly put so much emphasis on point differential. Though bowls try to get the teams that will provide the best game, it is rare that the teams in bowls are evenly matched AND that both will play to their potential.

I'd be upset, too, with 2 bowl wins in 16 years.
