BOZICH | Louisville Delivers First Back-to-Back Top 15 Football Rankings.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) – Another first for the University of Louisville football program -- back-to-back Top 15 finishes in the final Associated Press college football poll for the first time in school history.

The final poll for the 2013 season was filed early Tuesday morning after Florida State defeated Auburn, 34-31, in the BCS Championship game. (Here is a link to the poll, which was topped by FSU, Auburn, Michigan State, South Carolina and Missouri.)

Louisville advanced three spots, climbing from 18th to 15th. The Cards benefited from their thunderous 36-9 victory over Miami in the Russell Athletic Bowl.

The victory enabled Charlie Strong's final U of L team to overtake UCLA, which moved from 17th to 16th; Oklahoma State, which slipped from 13th to 17th and Arizona State, which fell from 16th to 21st.

It's the first time Louisville has finished in the final AP poll in consecutive seasons since 2004-05-06. Louisville delivered three consecutive top 20 finishes during the final three seasons of the Bobby Petrino Era, but I'm not going to turn this into a coaching search referendum. Plenty of time for that.

Louisville was also ranked 15th in the final USA Today coaches' Top 25 poll.

Here is a list of the nine seasons Louisville has finished the season ranked in the final AP poll – with six of those seasons coming under athletic director Tom Jurich.
