RE: ACC RESPECT !
I'd ease on the enthusiasm here. The ACC still went 4-6 in Bowl games this year.

and to be fair, one of the losses was an outgoing team and another was to an incoming team.

RE: ACC RESPECT !
I think that the middle of the ACC is second only to maybe the ACC, the middle-good of the ACC is weak, and the ACC elite is very good.

In the end, we're the 3rd best conference behind the Pac-12 and SEC IMO.

We're close to the Pac though, and they're reasonably close to the SEC.

If the bottom half of the conference continues to improve and Louisville gets another good coach the ACC will be even better next year. I think the ACC makes it 2 in a row next year.

I'm expecting a Basketball title and a Lacrosse Title for the ACC this year.

Really, CP…? The ACC wins the BCS title, and you're comparing bowl records? Like that matters.

The only two bowl games that matters are the last two -- the BCS bowls.

Clemson over Ohio State

FSU over Auburn

ACC!! ACC!! ACC!! ACC!!

04-cheers

Coming in here to echo this. I suspect most people would trade losses in all the other bowls to get wins in the Orange Bowl and National Championship for the conference. Big Ten fans (I have a foot in each camp now) can make the same argument with their Rose Bowl victory.

Obviously the above is not an ideal situation, but regardless wins in the BCS/CFP games trump the lesser bowls by a fair margin imo.

the BC-Arizona and Duke- TAMU were the swing games. ACC needed both of those IMO.

So add an extra win and take out Maryland's loss: 6-5.

I don't think it necessarily means much but it looks prettier.

For as long as I can remember people were saying this about the ACC. "If all these schools could just be better, the ACC would be the best..."

That's all I'll say.

A lot of teams have to improve for it to be the conference as a whole getting respect. Right now it is FSU carrying the conference with help from a select few like Clemson.

I don't think everyone will ever think the ACC is great but at least most of the criticism is being directed toward the B1G rather than the ACC right now.

Don't forget what a fantastic season Duke had. 2013 Coastal Division champion; played #20 Texas A&M close in the Chik-fil-A Bowl; finished the season 10-4 and ranked #23 in the final 2013 AP Poll. All this from a school that had been to only one other Bowl game since 1994. Great job Duke!

I just makes me laugh that when FSU was struggling they were blamed for the ACC getting no respect. Now that they are winning, the same people want to talk about it being the conference as a whole getting the ACC respect. Funny how that works.

^ That's what happens when your school is the football "flagship". Get used to it.

Congrats on our your title. Win another one.

RE: ACC RESPECT !
I actually agree with the Florida State fans on this one. This was their achievement, not the ACC's. Now, if in the next few years Clemson takes home the top prize and Miami follows up with one of their own, then I will start to look at it as a league-wide phenomenon. Also, if the ACC starts winning the majority of its OOC games, that too would change my perspective. However, I don't think one big win by a single member of the ACC vindicates the conference as a whole. We all have a lot of work to do in that regard.
