RE: BSU keeps MAC bowl record intact
Why not email the top MAC officials and remind them of the MAC's bowl record AND how Toledo was NOT invited ahead of Ohio and Buffalo.........must be more important with the MAC officials of "potentially" selling more tickets to the bowl games than winning bowl games.

Now that I think of it, who's been in this conference longer? And who will continue be in this conference for the long haul, Toledo or Buffalo? It's always important to not forget where you've come from.

At least they are consistent---but then consistency is not always a good thing

I don't think the MAC office really gives a damn about Toledo. Been several signs over the past few years. I think it's a catch-22...the MAC doesn't think Toledo wants to stay in, but either UTs administration isn't seriously looking or no other conference is interested, so we stay in the MAC which doesn't think we will stay, so why be nice to us?

Unfortunately, there's no place to go. The P5 conferences will get more and more power and the rest will pretty much be the all the same. No reason to move.

I respectfully disagree. There is one very good reason to move: The MAC office CLEARLY has no affinity for Toledo. They are never going to be supportive, no matter how good we are in what sports. I say we get the hell out ASAP, even if it means going independent.

What do you know, the SBC office didn't care enough about us to even send an official to Mobile to watch the game last night.

Our administration is rather PO'd about that. We're stuck in the SBC though, so we're just going to have to win in spite of them. I suggest you guys continue to do the same in the MAC.

At least your conference respects your school enough to support them for a bowl game with a 7 - 5 record.

RE: BSU keeps MAC bowl record intact
I had some work to do so I was only able to catch the last 5 minutes of the game. As quickly as ASU was able to score to take the lead back I'm amazed that the score was so low. ASU was really motivated on that drive and Ball State was powerless to stop them. You could sure tell who wanted it more. Frankly, I didn't care who won, though.

At least Toledo didn't lose a bowl game this year and I believe we most likely would have. The guys who phoned it in this season are gone, so hopefully we will have a fair chance in 2014-15, that is if we come up with a QB.

That was more the Go Daddy Bowl kind of making a choice on its own. An 8-4 WKU that beat us the last week of the season was passed over by Go Daddy for us. It pays to have support from an individual bowl.

That is unbelievable considering the SBC has 2 designated bowl games and they couldn't send a conference official to Mobile? Wow

Especially considering the conference office is a two hour drive away...yeah we were rather bemused, commissioner dropped in long enough on Friday to hand us a trophy and to announce he was off to Pasadena. We never saw another single SBC official the rest of the week.

Heck, there was one mention of the Go Daddy Bowl on the league Facebook and Twitter page in the three weeks before the game.

ASU runs itself pretty much at this point. We work independently of the league a bunch, and really maintain our league membership because its preferable to life as an independent, and the travel outside of Idaho and NMSU is sustainable. That and the fact that we don't stand a chance at getting into CUSA.

Now that the dust has settled and the MAC went 0-5 in Bowl games, the conference got what it deserved. I am now fine with the fact that the Rockets did not lose a bowl game.

I have to agree with Detroit Rocket----unless your name is Notre Dame (or Army or Navy) it is pretty tough being an independent in football (even Navy is giving up the life of an independent)-----Who are you going to get to schedule you after the 3rd or 4th week of the season when everyone else is in the middle of their conference scheduled games? Most bowls have conference affiliations these days, so who is going to offer your team a bowl invitation? Aside from football, what about your other 14 or 15 sports programs? Can you find a home for them and if so where?

If there are any Huskie fans lurking about maybe they can tell us how the life of an independent suited Northern Illinois.

OL gives up six sacks in one game?!?!?! I believe that they allowed six sacks all year. If they didn't allow the Florida DL to sack TO multiple times I doubt any of the five bowl teams would get more than two sacks against the Rockets offensive front.
