First 7 games of the season he avg. 6 boards a game the last 6 games he has avg. 2 rebounds. His rebound totals the last 6 games are 3 3 0 3 2 1.

That right there is why he isn't playing a ton.
o

he's playing less minutes and he's shooting 58% from the field and averaging 1.5 blocks/game in only 15 minutes/game.

He needs to be playing more, not less

His shooting percentage is a little inflated by a game where he scored 20 points and the fact that a lot of his shots come from within 2 feet. If Austin wants to play more rebound. It's that simple. And even when Austin has gotten good looks inside he has missed lately.

When Pellom comes he is producing and getting rebounds and playing tough and honestly playing better than Austin right now. Austin is getting pushed around right now.

If you can't go watch the first 7 games and then watch the last 6 A's Sr the difference in how Austin has played I'm not sure what else to tell you. And it's not because he isn't playing enough minutes. His play has dipped the last 6 games.

he's not being fed in the post is the problem. Pellom has been great, no argument here. 2 out of 3 of shaq, nichols, and pellom should ALWAYS be in

It's dangerous to feed him in the post right now unless he's wide open. He has to learn to fight for the ball. Chances are pretty good that the ball will at least be deflected by the other team if it's passed to Nichols because he sits back and waits for it. Gotta get more aggressive and fight for better position and incoming passes.

How do you know? If that's the case, why even have a coach? Just put 5 guys out there and if it's not going their way then they just lose.

If the guy made changes and they didn't work, so be it. At least he tried SOMETHING and we could live with that. To do nothing is pathetic.

How do I know 33% shooting is how I know. You aren't winning with that type of shooting and especially when the other team shoots over 40%.

And don't come back with the three point misses we missed a ton of easy shots Saturday as well

THAT'S WHY YOU MAKE LINEUP CHANGES TO POUND IT INSIDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Are we allowed to say 'pound it'?

Good point. That would have been the better option as opposed to going to the game Saturday.

If we rely on our guards the rest of the year without going inside as the first option 90% of the time, we will lose more than 10 games..AGAIN "WE ARE NOT A GOOD OUTSIDE SHOOTING TEAM" and that's including anything outside the paint..

Been to every one. He's not gotten the chance to get in the flow of the game lately. Josh pulls him 4 minutes in regardless.

Yep. He might appear to struggle sometimes bc the guards make bad passes to him

RE: Freshman wall
This is how this stuff works: Dixon misses a bunch of shots and "fans" mockingly call for his benching and lace assaults on him with derogatory language.

Austin appears to struggle, gets constructively critiques as seeming to give up too many rebounds by being out of position or not aggressive enough, and he should play MORE and the coach playing him less is slowing his progress.

And even that above idea will be parsed by the never give an inchers. But he is a freshman so he needs more time even if struggling. But he player well in some games earlier in the season so clearly he can play better with more time and the fact Dixon or name your other player played well earlier does not matter because they played poorly now so bench their sorry a$$es.

The reality seems to be- I highly doubt he hit a wall- but Pellom has been playing better, and Austin will work through it- and probably very quickly. He still shows plenty of solid absolutely knows what he is doing play but he has missed many more bunnies and been out of position for rebounds more than he was earlier. In games where Nichols AND other players do not play well- it will be tough. Like with every team in the country.

But we get it.

5.6 points per game in his last 8 games. No double digit scoring games, playing an average of 18 minutes. He looks physically overmatched, especially when it comes to rebounding.

He averaged 12.8 points, and 6 rebounds per game in his first 5 games. Since then he is averaging 5.6 points and 2.9 rebounds. Of course you would think the idea that he is struggling is "preposterous" because the exact opposite is true.

He is having a terrific freshman season, but he has obviously been struggling lately.
